🙌Good Afternoon PMC Community 🙌

Today's Honorable Mention: ✨Dr. Sarah VanDeWalle✨
Dr. Sarah is an amazing addition to our clinic, we asked her some questions about her passion for veterinary medicine!

1.) Dr. Sarah how did you know that the career of being a Veterinarian was the right fit for you?

My father is a biologist which got me interested in animals, and my mother worked as a vet tech! So I grew up shadowing the veterinarian she worked for, which strongly reinforced my passion to always wanting to be a Veterinarian.

2.) With working in a Vet Clinic, what are the appointments you like to see?
My favorite appointment to see is wellness appointments. I enjoy making sure pets are healthy and working on ways to keep them in good health, especially through preventative medicine. This includes preventing diseases through vaccinations, staying up to date on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, and even discussing dental health.

🙌Thank you Dr. Sarah VanDeWalle for choosing PMC to thrive and establish amazing care for the animal community!🙌

✨Good Afternoon PMC Community!✨
Tuesday's are now "Get To Know The Team of PMC"

Today's shining star's are Dr. Jarod Rosel (Medical Director) and Dr. Nicole Rosel whom are both owners of Pet Medical Center. They were asked some questions about their passions and what shaped them into becoming Dr.'s in the Vet Med field.

1.) What made you pursue a career in the Vet Med field?
Dr. Nicole and Dr. Jarod both love animals, medicine and helping people, so veterinary medicine made sense

2.)What are your favorite appointments to see?
Dr. Nicole likes seeing puppies and kittens. She likes starting them off, their growth and progress. Then seeing them as a well rounded adult brings her joy

Dr. Jarod likes seeing urinary and derm cases. Urinary because they frequently involve ultrasound and possibly surgery. Dermatology cases are great since the animals are usually feeling terrible and you can really see their turnaround

It can sound scary when your vet assistant wants to take your pet to "the treatment area" so we wanted to let you know what happens and why we sometimes take your pet out of the room.
Space
Our exam rooms do not always allow for the doctor, technicians, and assistants to comfortably treat or obtain samples from your pet in such a small space.
Staff
In the treatment area, extra staff members are around to provide treats, distractions, and proper handling to ensure safety and comfort for your pet.
Equipment
Some of the equipment is set up and ready to go in the treatment area. We also have equipment that is far too large to remove from the treatment area.
Comfort
Performing things like a**l gland expressions or bandage changes are best done in the treatment area to prevent the exam room from having a bad odor. We wouldn’t want your room to smell for the rest of your pet's appointment. Many pets, not all, are more cooperative away from owners because they don't feel the need to protect them.

If you feel uncomfortable with your pet leaving the exam room ask us if your pet can stay in the room. In some cases we can most definitely comply with the request.

Have a great week everyone!

All American Pet Photo Day!

Pets are celebrated today by having their pictures taken. Over half of American households have pets, making it easy for the day to be celebrated. Dogs and cats are the most popular pets, but those who have fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, turtles, lizards, and other pets can also participate. After pictures of pets are taken, they are often shared online.

ATTENTION PET MEDICAL CENTER! WE HAVE A NEW DVM ON STAFF!
This is Dr. Sarah!
If you happen to stop by make sure to say hello to our new doctor.

Here is a little info on our new recruit:

I am from Brandon, Iowa, and attended Iowa State for my Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science and for Vet School. I enjoy hiking with my dog, Champion, and my fiancé, Riggs.

A fun fact about me is I have helped with radio transmitter implantation surgery on Massasauga rattlesnakes. This involved placing transmitters inside of snakes surgically to allow people, including my father who is a biologist, to track the snakes and learn more about them and their habitats.

This year I am most excited to learn more about different types of surgeries besides the routine spay and neuters. I love working with dogs and cats but am also excited to learn more about exotic pets as well.

On March 13, we honor the canine members of the police force and military. A military war dog, police dog, or military working dog is a canine trained to defend people in hazardous circumstances.

“The guard dog was incorruptible; the police dog dependable; the messenger dog reliable. The human watchman might be bought, not so the dog. The soldier sentinel might fall asleep, never the dog. The battlefield runner might fail … but not the dog, to his last breath, would follow the line of duty.”
