Bailing Out Benji is a small nonprofit organization based in Ames, Iowa that is dedicated to ending puppy mill cruelty through research, education and advocacy. Our team provides transparency into puppy mills, puppy brokers and puppy stores by forensically auditing government health records and inspection records and making that information public. Our research is used from classrooms to policy ro

oms across the country in order to make necessary changes in the lives of countless animals and to protect consumers against this predatory industry. Bailing Out Benji educates with kindness and compassion and without using graphic imagery. Our grassroots volunteers are located in various states across the country and are dedicated to changing the world for animals bred in commercial facilities. We have to give a shout out to our Colorado team! For the last ✨11 weeks✨, citizens in Centennial Colorado have seen our volunteers and other local advocates peacefully protesting outside of Perfect Pets. Countless folks have seen our message while driving or walking by!

They will be out there again THIS Saturday! If you're in the area, swing by and give them a honk or wave of support! 💙

I'm sure you have seen this video of the theft at Perfect Pets recently. We have been working to educate the public about where the puppies come from. They are sourced from Nebraskaland Pets, a kennel with 395 dogs, and a large-scale commercial broker. This brokering facility buys and resells puppies from other facilities. Their most frequent suppliers are in Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota. AJ's Angels in Minnesota has 885 dogs at last count and hasn't been inspected since 2022. A facility in South Dakota run by Cindy Huber received a direct USDA violation in 2022 pertaining to adequate veterinary care. This resulted in an Official USDA warning. Another facility in Minnesota received a violation due to flooring within primary enclosures allowing for puppy's feet to fall through. They have 156 dogs.

PACFA licenses and inspects the pet stores in Colorado but does not regulate out of state facilities that Perfect Pets sources from.
