Here are the new CDC guidelines for importing/traveling with dogs beginning August 1 of this year!

Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.

Use CDC’s Q&A tool (the CDC “DogBot”) to determine what rules apply to your dog: https://bit.ly/2rww2bq

Giardia is a very common intestinal parasite that we see not only in young pets but patients of any age. Here is some information on this parasite! If you suspect your dog has been exposed to this or another intentional parasite, please reach out to our office and we will discuss testing and treatment options!

Giardia isn't just a buzzword – it's a real concern for our four-legged friends, especially during Massachusetts wet spring months. Stay vigilant and learn how to protect your pets! Stay tuned as we focus over the next few days on how to spot Giardia, how to treat it and as we provide tips and things to know.

🐛 What is Giardia?
Giardia is a microscopic parasite that makes its home in the intestines of an infected animal—dogs, cats and even humans can all be hosts. It has two life stages. In the first, the trophozoite, the organism is fragile but an active mover and is the cause for diarrhea. In the second stage, the cyst, the organism has a protective shell allowing it to survive out in the environment.

Our building has unfortunately lost power and we’re unable to make or receive phone calls which forces us to close the hospital for the day. Due to the lack of power we also cannot access contact information for our clients who have appointments scheduled today, we hope they see this post prior to their appointment time. Our staff sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience this causes and as long as power is restored, we will be back in the office tomorrow morning at 8:30 and will be calling all affected clients to reschedule. Edit: They have been found! Thank you to all of our clients who have been keeping an eye out!
Two of our patients went missing this morning, here is the message from the owner from the local Amherst NH page. If anyone has any information, please reach out to the family. Thank you!
“Help! My dogs jumped the fence at my parents house in Bedford and were last seen on Church st at 9:30amish with no sightings since. They were heading in the direction of rt101 and may have crossed but could be anywhere by now, maybe even trying to get back home to New Boston. I am very concerned that there hasn't been any sightings because they tend to stand out and make a scene everywhere they go so hopefully someone didn't take them. If you see them with someone and its not me please contact me or the bedford police and get information if you can safely. I will not be offended if you ask for my ID. Their Names are Dodo (small tan feist terrier 25lbs) and Bisa (Large black and white Dane 90lbs) They are friendly but wont come up to someone they dont know. Thank you all for your help. My number is 603 718 9114.Thank you!!”
