Juliana Klapper and Hymne MVF (Lala) spent the cool morning hours at the beautiful HITS dressage show at Commonwealth Park near Culpeper trying out their new dance at 4.1. With a 63+% they recieved their first score towards the USDF
Silver Medal and a blue ribbon!
Lala was extremely pleased that her in-house cheer team, the fabulously supportive MVF riders, were there to watch them shine! We even got to welcome the far traveled extended Klapper family to the fun.

What a good day! Thank you from everyone near and far who came to support Juliana in her journey. And thank you HITS and our supportive community!

We had a marvelous weekend at the Highpoint Hanoverians’ Young Horse Show!

Our five yr old Hanoverian Fiero MVF (Finnegan x Kaiserkult) is now qualified for Regionals with a 7.8! Go Colby and Klaus!

Holly Diesselhorst qualified her five year old mare Okracoke with a 7.5%. Go Holly and “Yoyo”! and
thank you Didi Callahan for breeding this fine horse out of the most talented TB dressage mare and Olivi.

I also got to spend time catchingng up with my dear friend Susanne Owen Hurtt, the phenomenal rider and trainer who was the World Championship (held in Verden, Germany)finalist in fourth place with Royal Prince in the day.

The young students of Mountain Vista Farm learned to be announcers and jump shoot catchers.

Lunch featured friendship and good stories.

Back at MVF all horses got very special attention by Dylan Vina, who apparently is becoming unstoppable!

To round up the weekend:
Fiero is qualified and the garlic is harvested!

Teamwork makes the Dream work, as always, a huge Thank You to the team! We couldn’t do it without you!

MVF would like to share our Kindergarten with you!

Montefiori MVF aka “Montezoomy” is an Oldenburg c**t out of Destano by Monterey. A world class stallion, owned by Highpoint Hanoverians. This young man was born ready with an attitude to leave his mark in life. Delilah, his Hanoverian dam is a fabulous mom, with the special talent to teach her babies the magic of “Enough!” when her foals urge to exaggerate to practice their pestering skills, she always teaches them the art of patience. Thank you Larissa Billings and Klaus Schengber to keep them at Highpoint this summer until the inspection. Montezoomy will have a fabulous time to play with his foal friends and learning the ropes of respect, taught by the other moms.

Wonderful horses made locally, we are excited about their future!

They scored 65% and 69%.
On Saturday they recieved 2nd and 1st place, plus Highscore.
Sunday produced a 66% and 67%, another 2nd and 1st place!
Thank you Vadacc for a fantastic show!
Cheers to Lani Tigchelaar for stepping in and coaching them at the show and to the Klapper family for Lala’s personal shuttle service and for keeping her entertained… we know how hard that can be!
Back home to enjoy a little vacay before we pack up for Lexington in a few weeks.

It is so rewarding to work with a young person who has high motivation and to see them turn into a skilled and tactful rider.

Juliana Klapper had her debut at Third level at the most lovely, friendly, and organized Vada/Nova show at beautiful Morven Park last weekend.

Hard work pays off and they scored 67/68/67/69% in their four tests and High score for Third Level.

Juliana did not just ride well, she made Lala very happy! And for those of you who know this “Extra” mare: She is judgmental and hard to please when it comes to her rider!

Thank you for the MVF support team!
Our world is so much better with you in it

DRESSAGE TRIVIA!!!
Do you know the WHY you shouldn't ride too close up against the wall?🤔
There are a few different technical reasons why, but let's keep it simple! ...
What is the most basic, fundamental, reason why you should NOT glue your horse to the rail or wall?
The answer is simply that your horse WILL NOT BE STRAIGHT if you do...

Why🧐???
Because your horse's hips are wider than its shoulders!

Still lost?

You see, we riders tend to do things and make decisions based on what we see, rather than what we feel. So sitting atop a horse, we have a perfect view of the head, neck and shoulders. So most riders will form their track along the wall by placing the shoulders in the line of desired travel. And then we just assume that the haunches are following the shoulders in an orderly fashion. But the haunches simply cannot follow the shoulders squarely when the shoulders are placed too close to the wall because the haunches don't have enough room!

A horse will not willingly scrape its outside hip against the wall in the name of holy straightness 😉
If you ride your horse with its outside shoulder and outside hip straight up against the wall, or a few inches from it, you may feel like you are riding perfectly straight. But what is really happening is that half of your horse is straight with the wall, but the other half is lost.

The haunches are basically falling in, so the inside hind leg is not tracking under the body as it should be. You see, the inside hind is CRUCIAL for your ride. You want to be able to influence it and keep it reaching under the horse's body. Don't let it float into outer space!

So, be mindful of where you are placing your line of travel. Just think about staying a bit more off the wall so the haunches can follow the shoulders.
