Unique Breed of the Day: East Siberian Laika

Originating from Russia, this ancient breed is a rare gem!

History: Bred to hunt and track in Siberia's harsh wilderness, East Siberian Laikas are resilient and resourceful.

Personality: Confident, independent, and energetic, they thrive on physical and mental stimulation.

Grooming Needs: Double-coated, with a thick undercoat and coarse outer coat. Regular brushing and occasional bathing are necessary.

Similar to Huskies? While both breeds share some physical characteristics, East Siberian Laikas are distinct. They're more compact, with a broader head and shorter ears.

This Swiss breed has a rich history dating back to the 16th century, originating in the Entlebuch valley in Switzerland. They were bred to:

Herding cattle and other livestock
Guarding farms and families
Assisting with daily farm tasks

Their versatility, intelligence, and loyalty made them an invaluable asset to Swiss farmers.

Exciting news! I just received a dog model head to practice Asian Fusion style grooming, and I couldn't be more thrilled!

Asian Fusion is a niche technique that requires precision and skill. It takes long hard work to learn and I’ve only done a couple of these style grooms in my career, and that's okay - it's challenging to master and isn’t common to get requests for in everyday pets!

To achieve these intricate trims, dogs need to be perfectly behaved on the grooming table. Unfortunately, this isn't always possible with everyday pet grooms.

That's where practice comes in! Just like human hair mannequins, dog model heads allow me to hone my skills and try new techniques without the pressure of a live client.

A**l gland cleaning: not exactly the most glamorous task, but the results are paw-some! Bug, my silly boy client, was over the moon after his grooming session today. No more butt scooting for this happy pup!

His mom rewarded me with an iced coffee for dealing with his bum 😂
