Odin was such a good boy for his nail trim. 💅 It's important to keep your pets nails trim and short to ensure comfort and prevent breakage. 🐩🐕‍🦺🐕

Wondering how you can make nail trims work within your own home? Here are some tips and tricks!

🐾 Use Positive Reinforcement: Reward your dog with treats, praise, or toys during and after nail trimming to create positive associations.

🐾 Gradual Desensitization: Start by getting your dog used to having their paws handled without trimming. Gradually introduce the clippers or grinder, rewarding them for calm behavior at each step.

🐾 Short Sessions: Keep nail trimming sessions short to prevent stress. You can trim just one or two nails at a time and then take a break.

🐾 Proper Tools: Use sharp, high-quality clippers or a grinder designed for dogs to make the process quicker and less painful.

🐾 Comfortable Positioning: Ensure your dog is in a comfortable and secure position, such as lying on their side or sitting in your lap.

🐾 Calm Environment: Perform the nail trim in a quiet, stress-free environment to help your dog stay relaxed.

🐾 Professional Help: If you're unsure or uncomfortable trimming your dog's nails, consider seeking help from a professional groomer or veterinarian.

🐾 Paw Massage: Regularly massage your dog's paws to get them used to having their feet handled.

If you have questions or concerns, we're here to help! Feel free to call or text us if you have additional questions in making your pets pedicures a priority. 💅❤️

🦴Ellie was hanging out with us for the day so we could perform a diagnostic procedure called an ultrasound! The second picture features a kidney that was visualized using an ultrasound (it's not Miss Ellie's Kidney, in case you were curious! ❤️)

🐾 Wondering what an abdominal ultrasound is and when it's used for your furry friend? 🐶 Here's the scoop:

Abdominal ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that allows veterinarians to visualize organs and soft tissue within the abdomen using sound waves. It's like taking a peek inside your pet's tummy!

We might recommend an abdominal ultrasound if your dog is experiencing symptoms like continued vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or unexplained weight loss. This diagnostic tool helps us assess the health of organs such as the liver, kidneys, spleen, and gastrointestinal tract.

With ultrasound, we can detect abnormalities like tumors, foreign bodies, fluid accumulation, and inflammation. It's an invaluable tool for diagnosing various conditions and guiding treatment plans.

Once we collect the appropriate images, we send them off to a board certified radiologist for further review.

If your pup is showing any concerning symptoms, don't hesitate to reach out to our veterinary team. We're here to help keep your pets stay happy and healthy! 🐾

📚 Delving into the realm of canine healthcare: Puppy vaccines play a pivotal role in safeguarding our young companions against formidable foes like parvovirus and distemper. Let's prioritize their well-being and embark on a journey of preventive care. 🐕💉

Toby was oh so brave for his boosters! Fun fact: for vaccines such as leptospirosis and Lyme, your pet needs a series of two boosters the first time it is received. After that, the vaccine becomes an annual, single poke!

Meet Casey, a happy-go-lucky gal with a knack for catching squirrels, skunks, and even porcupines! Her contact with wildlife brings up a good discussion on a dangerous bacteria found in standing water contaminated by infected wildlife urine; Leptospirosis!

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic bacterial infection caused by various Leptospira serovars, and it poses a significant threat to dogs. These spirochetes thrive in water-contaminated environments, gaining entry through mucous membranes or skin abrasions. Once inside, they target vital organs, leading to severe health complications.

🏥 Our veterinary practice advocates for the Lepto vaccine, a potent defense against this bacteria. Vaccination not only shields dogs but also aids in preventing the transmission of Leptospira to humans.

If your pet is getting this vaccine for the first time, it requires an initial booster 3-4 weeks after receiving the first, and is then given annually.

Call us today to further discuss this vaccine! 🐕💉

Jasper didn't even notice his vaccine, just his special kitty treat!

Transform your cat's vet visits with positivity! 🐾 We embrace utilizing positive reinforcement techniques that not only eases stress for your feline friend but also fosters a healthier relationship with healthcare.

Treats, gentle praise, and soothing touches make vet trips a positive experience, ensuring your cat feels safe and secure. 🏥

Prior to your vet visit, you can use treats and calming pheromone sprays, such as Feliway, in and around their pet carrier to start their trip to the vet with beneficial, positive cues.
