Welcome to Precious Memories Farm!
Over 40 years ago, a woman known to some as Precious Patty, started a horse farm here in Amsterdam. She was strong, determined and a salt of the earth kind of woman. Her love for her farm was only matched by her love for her horses. She had a vision of what her farm could be. Her vision included a beautiful outdoor arena and large paddock. Through her determination there was nothing she could not accomplish. It is said her outdoor arena ended up becoming one of the best there was around. She worked from sun up until sun down and then would kick up her heels line dancing showing all the younger ladies how it was done. Women half her age could not keep up with her! When she was younger she worked on a ranch with all men. She competed against many of these men in numerous aspects of the sport. She rode English and Western...but also loved to ride bare back. She won hundreds of awards. Some of the awards against many of them men she worked on the ranch with. She earned and won their respect with her accomplishments and horsemanship. Pat worked every aspect of her horse farm until she was almost 80 years old. Who do you know who can still throw a bale of hay at almost 80 years old? She was a force to be reckoned with! Pat was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in December of 2012. She was never able to ride or care for a horse again. She never gave up the dream of having her horse farm operational again... She fought this disease head on refusing to let it beat her or take her independence. Sadly, we lost Pat a few months ago in January of 2018. She died holding on to the hope that her farm would one day be restored to its glory. One of the last conversations we had, she asked us to take care of her farm and keep going with her vision. There is much work to be done to rehab her farm and bring it back to life. For those of you who knew Pat, she would have told us to pull up our boot straps and finish the job. It won't be easy. But if one woman can work a farm for so many years...there is no reason we can't keep her memory alive and carry on in her foot steps.
Please join us in our journey to continue her legacy....Precious Patty's Memory will always be alive on her farm โฅ
