Update: Sorry all, looks like the park will remain closed. There's still pooled water in the groundwater recharge basins. May be another day or two.

Original post: Waiting to hear back from the Park Supervisor on the park reopening today. Confirmed La Palma Dog Park be will open at noon after their maintenance is done.

(From a follower of this page). This is a great park and with great with dog families. However, 10/28 around 4:30-5pm my dog Vader was attacked by a grey pit and the owners simply left without any concern. My daughter was present and rushed him to E.R. Vader's in surgery today for his injuries. If anyone has any info on the dog or it's owners please post something. Love and concern for our pets and other's pets is what makes a great community, these people should be ashamed .

It is a dog gone great day in west Anaheim!

Today we cut the ribbon on Maxwell Dog Park, a new dog park at Maxwell Park.

The long-awaited dog park provides residents, families and, of course, dogs, with an awesome new place to play.

Along with this week's groundbreaking of 39 Commons at Beach Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue, it's another big step forward in west Anaheim's revitalization.

“As great as this dog park is, it represents so much more," Mayor Harry Sidhu said. "It is part of our commitment to improve our neighborhoods in west Anaheim. We know change can’t come fast enough. But as we see with this beautiful dog park, change is happening."

The 1-acre dog park, Anaheim's fourth, includes spaces for large and small dogs, agility courses, grassy hills drinking fountains for people and dogs, bone-shaped benches and ample shade trees.

There's a new sign up at the park that it will open Summer 2021 to let the grass take root. The grass has been there a few weeks already; not sure why it takes so long to root but at least now we have an update and target opening!

Drove by the park today, the green mesh cover is still over the permanent fencing, the grass was being watered, and the parking was still blocked off. It looks ready except for the mesh, and missing graphics from display.

As of Sunday the temporary fencing was removed, but as of Monday evening the parking was still blocked off and the green mesh was still over the permanent fencing. I'll drive by this afternoon to see if it's open yet.

Update. Although still not open, the dog park appears complete; now allowing time for the grass to stabilize.
