Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11th, 2001—a day of profound tragedy and extraordinary bravery. Among the countless heroes were not only the brave first responders and civilians but also the dedicated rescue dogs who gave their all amidst the wreckage.
✨ Bretagne: The last surviving 9/11 search dog, Bretagne was a golden retriever who, alongside her handler, worked tirelessly at Ground Zero. After the attacks, she continued to be a symbol of resilience and courage until her passing in 2016.
✨ Roselle: A Labrador who displayed remarkable bravery, Roselle guided her blind handler, Michael Hingson, down 78 flights of stairs from the North Tower, ensuring his safety amid the chaos. Her loyalty and bravery remain an enduring legacy.
✨ Trakr: A German Shepherd who, alongside his handler, was one of the first to search the rubble of Ground Zero, as well as the team to find the last survivor of the attacks. Trakr’s heroic efforts in locating survivors were pivotal, and he is remembered for his unwavering bravery and service.
Their sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the extraordinary bond between humans and animals. Both the lives of the brave dogs and the countless human heroes lost that day are honored and remembered. Their legacy of bravery and resilience continues to inspire us. 🐕💔🇺🇸
