๐ The More We Know ๐
Let you and I talk about the volcano in the room...
With Mt. Spurr being as volatile as it is, we want to help you prepare in case of an eruption. If volcanic ash reaches our area, hereโs how to keep your dog safe:
๐ฅ Before an Eruption:
โ
Make an emergency plan that includes your pet.
โ
Pack a pet emergency kit (food, water, meds, leash, carrier).
โ
Stay updated on alerts and warnings.
โ
Prepare goggles, booties, or a mask to protect against ash.
๐ During an Eruption:
๐ช Keep your dog indoors as much as possible.
๐พ Limit outdoor timeโash can cause breathing issues and burn paws.
๐ฐ Provide clean, bottled waterโash can contaminate water sources.
๐ If you evacuate, take your pet with you!
โ๏ธ After an Eruption:
๐งผ Wipe ash from your dogโs fur, face, and paws with a damp cloth.
๐ท Watch for coughing, breathing issues, or eye irritationโcall a vet if needed.
๐ฅ Avoid falling ash deposits from the roof, sheds, porches etc.
๐ก Check your yard for hazards before letting your dog roam.
๐ Help them return to their routine to reduce stress.
Ashfall can happen quickly and with little warning, so prepare now! Stay safe and take care of your furry friends. ๐พ
We would rather have you be ready, and have nothing happen then have something happen, and you not be ready..
Thank you, Alaska Dog Sports
