Just a few hours of training smooshed into 20 secondsš¤·š¼āāļø
What do you do when you live 6 hours away from your trainer but are extremely dedicated to your dog and becoming better for her? Spend 10+ hours with your trainer in one long weekend and run a race while you are here! As always, a great weekend filled with LOTS of progress and education plus I got to spend time with my favorite husky brothersā¤ļø
Ft. Zoya being the best girl for her momma and my big baby Adlet being a great challenge for both of themš
30 minutes of pool time at Alaska K9 Aquatics with Adlet crunched into 30 seconds.
What are the different ways that you exercise your dogs during the cold Alaskan winters? Adlet was first introduced to the pool last winter as a little winter baby so that heād be ready to confidently hit the lakes as soon as it was warm enough to go swimming outside. This winter itās been one of the ways he gets exercise every week.
We do love our pool time and have loved getting to know the new owners but we are SO ready for this snow to melt and the lakes to be ready for swimming OUTSIDE, anyone else?
Oh golden boy how we do love youā¤ļø
Moose is one of my only dogs that is 100% PRAISE motivated. His momma and I worked for months to get this boy to work for food and a plethora of toys but all he wants is PRAISE. It wasnāt until we had a talk and decided to give him what he truly wants that we were able to see his full potential. Moose is able to go in any pet friendly public place, on and off leash, slip lead and/or ecollar HAPPILY because we listened to HIM. Moose is one of many great examples as to why NBK9 will always prioritize personal training and working with the dog in-front of them over all else.
BABY BOYš
Gearing up for a summer full of training and new experiences for the boys, myself, and all of my clients! More training outside, seminars, swimming, and of course all of the sports. Both boys are in great spots with Adlet hitting 6 months and Paxson hitting 2 years in the same month.
Donāt forget to get your boarding and board & train reservations made as we will be BUSY this summer !
What I do when one of the dogs is having a bad day and doesnāt really want to work? Nothing, we go find a spot and do nothing.
Training isnāt always high energy, fast paced, or super focused, sometimes itās standing in one position for half an hour just watching the world go by and thatās okay. Just like people dogs have bad days, weeks, and months even. My one rule when dogs just arenāt in the mood is to at least do the bare minimum: stay neutral, donāt pull on the leash excessively, and listen to your basic obedience commands to the extent that has been proofed.

Paxsons been a bit wound up since it got cold which means more fun challenges to get his brain going and him to slow down. Itās not always pretty but thatās okay!
Itās the first day of snow for anchorage! Please be extra safe out on the roads and be patient with other drivers. Donāt forget to enjoy the snow with your pups too!
Iām so proud of this big manā¤ļø today was the big neuter and gastropexy day! I admittedly was very anxious about how he would behave for the staff at the vet especially because he had to be dropped off so early so I wouldnāt be able to get much energy out of him beforehand. We have Paxson some sedatives to take the edge off in advance and he proved me wrong. He walked nicely in a heel for them, didnāt put up a fight with restraint, and surprisingly only barked a little bit when he first got there.
Now for 2 long weeks of very light activity as he recovers, wish us both luckš¤š¼š¤š¼
Swim day for the boys since we are back to 100+. Paxson is a bit water crazed and Glen is gaining water confidence. Today was the first time Glen voluntarily swam and went off the dock a few times!!
Paxson hasnāt been quite himself the last few days due to some GI upset so weāve been taking it easy. Spent a few hours hanging out at a new to us park yesterday with some easy training here and there. Did a refresher on his place and outs then a little bit of heeling. Savoring the last 2 weeks in Oregon and before his Neuter(mentally preparing myself for 2 weeks of him on crate rest).
Itās a little weird to think that after a year with Doc this week will be the first week that I wonāt have him at all besides the few trips Iāve taken to AK.
Just 14 more days left in Oregon and 21 till I start the drive back to Alaska! Donāt forget that Iām scheduling consultations in Alaska for September 6th and my service list is up to date on the website. If you have any questions you can message through my socials or email me at [email protected].

Donāt mind us just doing all the weird things just because we can.
Tomorrow marks 30 days till I start my drive back to Alaska!! I am so excited to be back and canāt wait for everything Alaska has in store for NBK9 and Paxson. Donāt forget that I am currently booking consultations for the week of September 6th. We can either get you on the schedule now or get you on a list to schedule closer to the date! The Service list is also up to date on the website.

So you want a Malinois?
Can you spot the mistake I made that caused him to go down instead of holding his sit?
Itās definitely a bittersweet feeling leaving all my Oregon clients next month. Doc is one that Iāll definitely always missā¤ļø Did you know Iāve trained Doc since he was 4 months old? He was my first official client as a business and has been with me since then. Heās taught me so much and constantly pushed me to think up and research new methods of teaching things. This boy has come so far from the constantly baying demanding puppy that I met last year to the now fully off leash balanced man that he is today.
The perfect way to spend my first day back to work in Oregonš
Zara, Doc, and Paxson got to go to Mudbay to start off our day and work on tuning up all of their skills in our favorite pet store and then we went and worked on some dock diving and overall swimming. Paxson has discovered his love for specifically diving but also just water in general which Iām so excited about. Zara got to continue on her confidence building in a fun stress free way while also helping Doc learn how to jump off the dock.
Hopefully, the weather will continue to cooperate through the remainder of my time here in Oregon so I can leave with tons of days like this to rememberš
