When I retired in 2007 I decided to realize a dream I’d had for years. As a cat person I found it difficult to find someplace acceptable to board my cats so I was forced to depend/impose on family (my sweet son Sean), or friends like Gayle. The cats got to stay home and fortunately they were both confident social cats and knew their care givers. Luckily it worked out, but I was concerned about the possibility of what would happen if they’d had and emergency, plus, it can have a negative effect on a relationship should something happen to the cat.
I decided that cats deserved a space designed with them in mind, somewhere they would be happy, safe and stimulated. It was then that the concept for PURRFECT PURR CAT HOTEL was formulated. The name is derived from my husbands cat Chukchi, who had a loud unique purr. We wanted to go beyond a cage with a litterbox, bed, food and water dishes. A place of isolation and boredom, usually with dogs in the vicinity. My cats and yours deserved more.
At PURRFECT PURR CAT HOTEL your cat/s will check into a 4x4 unit with an enclosed bed, perch, litterbox and dishes. Once he/she settles down and feels safe, they will let me know and they will be freed to meet the other guests. I have, over 10 years and thousands of guests, perfected cat evaluation to determine who will get along with whom. I have never had an injury beyond the occasional nose scratch. Undue aggression is not tolerated and kitty will get a time out. If time outs won’t dissuade the behavior then kitty have to play in the lounge alone or with others that they get along with. Cat’s have as diverse range of personalities as humans.
I did extensive research on cat communications, social structure, health and environmental needs. Contrary to popular belief, cat’s are very social creatures, just on their terms. They do not have “leaders” and they do not form “packs”, they form malleable colonies with a well defined hierarchy. At PURRFECT PURR CAT HOTEL, your cat must join the colony as opposed to defend a territory. 98% of my guests socialize depending on length of stay and/or the cat’s personality.
