Rugging department
Knight's Taxidermy is growing and looking to expand our talented team in Anchorage, Alaska. We are currently seeking a full-time Rug stretcher and Seamstress to start work immediately. We offer competitive pay, hands-on training, and paid time off with a friendly, fast paced work environment.

While not required, experience is preferred. Hand sewing, stretching the hydrated skin while using a staple gun, lifting 50+ lbs. and creatively dyeing thin areas of the rugs are everyday activities. Carefully choosing new patches of skin and hair to replace damaged or shot areas of the hide is also part of the prep work to stretch a rug. You will work closely with and around chemicals and animal carcasses. This is a Full time position, Monday thru Friday.

Knight's Taxidermy has been in business for over 40 years, is the largest Taxidermy Studio in Alaska and has an on-site tannery. We are known for creativity and fine detail in every work of art. Being hard-working, self motivated, and team oriented is important to us.

Fleshing and Tannery Worker Position

Knight’s Taxidermy Inc. is located in Anchorage, Alaska and is looking for a Full Time Fleshing and Tannery Worker. Applicants should be able to lift 100 pounds, with-stand working in difficult weather environments and with-stand strong odors and the presence of animal carcasses. The Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years working in a tannery, be proficient in common Fleshing techniques and using a Round Knife Fleshing Machine, have a working knowledge of the tanning process, using Formic Acid, Lutan-F, and other required chemicals.

Job description for trophy intake and tanning of hides:



Accept and document condition of trophies using a
provided Condition Received Form

Tag hides according to job type
Seal required hides and skulls for ADF&G
Flesh and salt hides
Use round knife fleshing machine, and/or fleshing knife
and beam

Hang hides to dry, and folded dry hides once every day
Lift wet hides and equipment weighting up to 100 lbs.,
with help as needed
