I just saw a post that people were commenting on the dogs in the outdoor kennels at the shelter. It was said that our dogs are outside only.

To all that see the dogs outside, we are proud to say that we are one of the few rescues that have outdoor runs and facilities for all dogs to enjoy being able to spend time outside during weather permitting!

We also have a grassed city lot where dogs can have play dates and swimming pools during the summer. Rest assured that all animals are inside at night(or in inclement weather) where they have warm and cozy beds or air conditioning.

The big yellow building is our two story free roaming cat house. With a screened in porch for nice weather.

We are in the process of a building fund to modernize our back kennel areas. We are asking for donations to help with this. We have an account with Wells Fargo in Pendleton. Be assured our animals are warm at night with clean bedding, toys and anything they need. Our three washers and dryers go all day long. Our heating and utilities run about $2,000 a month. Yes, we run on fund raisers and donations only.

We are always accepting volunteers and donations.

It's time for our next senior spotlight, meet Tweedle Dee! 😄
Tweedle Dee is an adult, male, Border Collie and Labrador mix. Although Tweedle prefers a house without children, he loves to play with his owner! He is very smart, funny, and protective. Tweedle may need a some extra time to warm up but with the right home, he will thrive! Tweedle does enjoy having other dogs in the home (no kitty friends)! Ho ho ho! Santa Paws is coming to town! 🎅🏼🐾

🚨Attention! Attention!🚨
Although we’re quickly entering the season of giving, shelters often see the biggest decline in donations this time of year. So we reached out to Santa Paws and he’s offered to help us fundraise!

Santa Paws is sending his head elf and professional photographer, Adam Gaddy Photography, to capture photos of all the dogs and cats currently up for adoption! I know you’re all wondering… YES the pets will dressed in their Christmas best! 🤗 Each adoptable pet will have the chance to strut their stuff and take some new selfies for their adoption profiles.

As you may have noticed, there’s a Santa Paws calendar with a dollar amount associated with each day beginning December 1st through Christmas Day. During the month of December, we will be showcasing each of MCHS' adoptable animals (and their adorable Christmas photos) through our social media campaign, Santa Paws Spotlight!

This is your chance to make a tax-deductible contribution and end up on the nice list permanently! 😉 With your contribution, we'd love to recognize you, your family, or your business in correlation with the date you've selected to sponsor. Your donation will directly impact the humane society by providing food, clean water, medication, necessary medical procedures, enrichment to prevent kennel depression, beds, and so much more!

Additionally, we'd love to give you the ability to select the cat or dog you'd like your sponsorship to showcase. Once we receive our photos back from the North Pole, we’ll happily share photos for sponsors to choose from!

Sadie is a 5 year old Pitbull mix who does well with dogs and kids. She’s 100% house and crate trained and knows basic commands. She’s excellent on the leash and is a perfect car riding companion. She’d be perfect as a work from home buddy too as she will lay next to you the whole time! She’s a perfect cuddler for these cold nights coming 🥰

Happy National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week!

We want to take a moment to celebrate all the hard work our staff does each and every day to create positive impacts on both the animals in our care as well as our community! We don’t get to post much about them even though we’re so thankful and proud.

Let’s thank them for their hard work and dedication. Whether they’re staying late, coming in early, or working extra days. When they’re giving extra treats, snuggles, baths, sitting with the scared and shy ones, medicating the sick ones, keeping their areas clean and of course, celebrating when they finally go home! We couldn’t do what we do without them.

Please join us in celebrating our staff as they don’t get recognized enough! 🥳🐾

Do you guys remember 2 years ago we posted about a dog named Gypsy that spent a little over 3 years with us? Sarah spent every day for two weeks befriending Gypsy and eventually adopted her. Unfortunately, Gypsy passed away about a month ago after a battle with cancer.

Sarah knew she needed to come rescue another friend. Shante was just a few weeks shy of her 2 year anniversary here. Sarah and Shante met and it was definitely meant to be! Shante was ready to go home with her after their second meeting(a lot quicker than Gypsy🤣).

Happy tails Sarah and Shante! This is what makes everything we do worth it 🥳🐾

Thank you all for all of your donations and participation, you guys are the best! After all monies tallied and all the bills paid, we were about to donate almost $6500 split between The Animal Protection League Inc., Indiana and Madison County Humane Society, Indiana, along with a ton of their wish list donations!!! And they brought some incredibly sweet fur kids who would love to be someone’s Jeepin buddy!
