Madison County Humane Society, Indiana Madison County SPCA Humane Society is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charity that receives no tax monies. Dogs are kept on monthly flea and heartworm prevention.

MCHS is a no-kill cat and dog receiving shelter and rescue funded by donations, fund-raising efforts & nominal fees; we receive no taxpayer monies. MCHS shelters more than 100-115 homeless animals every day and often has some in foster care.


--This fee includes spaying / neutering, age appropriate vaccinations, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine for pets 4 months and older, FIV/FELV test for cats, heart

worm test for dogs 7 months and older and worming. All animals are microchipped prior to leaving for their forever homes.

The biggest THANK YOU to Tim’s Heating and Cooling for coming to our rescue and providing a NEW furnace for one side of our dog kennel! Less than 24 hours after offering, Ernie had some awesome guys out to install it and by 3 PM today we had heat again!

Bucky is a 50 # lab mix who has been with us for awhile. He does well with other dogs and would enjoy and active home with adults!

As 2024 ends and 2025 begins, we want to say thank you to our supporters who have helped us get through over 50 years of life-saving work.

We have saved many lives this year. While we are incredibly proud of that accomplishment, it doesn’t stop there. Providing care for over 100 animals at any given time can be tremendous work. Doing that, all while trying to better our facilities for our residents, employees and volunteers. 100% of our annual operating budget is funded by individual donations, grants, and fundraising. We receive no funding from city, county, state, The Humane Society of the United States or ASPCA. We rely solely on YOU.

The number of displaced animals continues to rise and we will continue to be there to support Madison County and surrounding areas with fewer resources. We will continue to provide care for kittens and puppies, adult dogs and cats, sick or injured animals and work with other shelters to provide a place for urgent animals when we have the ability. We will continue to be a sanctuary for long time residents. We will continue to fight for better laws and ordinances within Anderson, Madison County and Indiana and ask for those to be held accountable.

We know that Kindness is Contagious and we are proud to show kindness and love to every animal that walks into our door. We hope you'll consider making an end of the year, tax-deductible donation to help the animals of Madison County.

Apollo is a shining star in his foster home. ⭐️

At 13 weeks he already knows how to walk on a leash, sits and waits for treats, collar on and off, and getting his food! He also does really well with his crate training!

Apollo is in a foster home with some smaller breed dogs and older children. His foster mom says he’s so intelligent! He also needs a confident owner who will continue to turn his smarts into good qualities!

He’s a beef cake! He’s around 20 # already and a stocky boy, so we think he’ll be good size. His adoption fee of $150 includes his neuter, vaccines, worming and microchip.
