The AKC is excited to announce that the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program will become an official AKC title in January 2025.

S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity and Responsible owner. The program requires that owners attend a 6 week long puppy or basic training class with their puppies. At the conclusion of the class, there is a 20 - item test including owner and puppy behaviors and good manners skills. Get your puppy's first official training title in an AKC S.T.A.R. class. 2021 Anderson Obedience Scent Work Class

One more class next week to end 2021 Scent Work Class. What a wonderful year we all had!! This is the last fall class and goes from last night 12/6/2021 to the beginning of fall class and then all the achievements you all have made this year. Great teams!! We are so happy that came to learn from us, so happy for all the titles you have received!!

Our Story

The Anderson Obedience Training Club, Inc has offered obedience classes to the public since 1944. Our classes are structured to teach pet owners “HOW TO TRAIN and GAIN CONTROL” of their dog. Our instructors have experience in training their own dogs, and different breeds, attending workshops to maintain and improve their skills in obedience training. We also have members who are approved to judge American Kennel Club Licensed Events.

The Anderson Obedience Training Club, meets every Tuesday, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Classes are held in the Indiana National Guard Armory, 125 S. Scatterfield Rd., Anderson, IN. Classes offered for Kindergarten Puppy Training/American Kennel Club S.T.A.R. puppy classes and Beginners Basic/American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) classes and enrolls classes every 5 weeks. The club also offers advanced training in AKC Obedience, AKC Rally, AKC Scent Work, and AKC Trick Dog classes. The Anderson Obedience Training Club also has eligible AKC Family Dog ( S.T.A.R. Puppy, CGC, CGCA, Urban, and etc.) evaluators who can administer the testing for the AKC Family Dog titles. Public is invited (without their dogs) to visit the classes any Tuesday evening.
