Heavier dogs are generally less ideal for protection or police work not because of their strength, but because of the trade-offs that come with added weight. In working dogs like German Shepherds, agility, endurance, and control are far more important than raw mass.
Extra weight is reduced agility, lower stamina AND endurance. Increased risk to injury. Handling and control issues.
I will take my SMALL (in standard, by the way) dogs any day of the week for the work we do.
