Are you ready to teach your dog the “Out” command? ⭐️“Out” tells your dog to move away from an area, person, object, dog and disengage from it!Get your leashes handy, you don’t want to miss out on this versatile command! 🐶 Let’s focus on the last clip, watch as we teach Jessie Lee how to “out” away from other dogs! Jessie Lee and Trinity are smelling one another then I’ll tell him “out” and utilize the leash to move him away! It’s the same concept for out away from toys, yourself, a room, etc! 🙌Learn more about the out command on our other post and let us know if you’d like to see other examples of teaching “out!”
You’re unintentionally teaching your dog they don’t have to do the command when you don’t follow through!😨Instead of allowing your commands to fade away, guide your dog into them! You do this by saying the command, pause, give your dog a chance to do the command, and if they do not get into it:You can mark it “no,” then repeat the command as you guide them into the command using the leash or add in spacial pressure or utilize the ecollar! 👍If you need extra help for your dog who doesn’t listen, take a look at our FREE ebook in our highlights on Instagram for more tips! 🙌
If you are looking for better walks, follow along with these tips! 🐕You want to talk less, tool your dog up, and let them relax on place for a while! Once you ready to head out, calmly release your dog from place! Have them follow you to the door, if they’re amped up and already yanking you, restart and have them back on place! When you make it to the door, practice door manners which means your dog is not to go flying out the door! Have them sit, open the door, and release them if they hold the sit and wait patiently for your cue! 😌The walk won’t start just yet! You want to simply walk up and down the driveway so your dog gets in tune with you! ⭐️You’ll want to walk up and down the driveway, turning 180 into your dog as well as away from your dog, practice stop and sits (when you stop, your dog is to stop and sit), and you can do some backwards walking as well to have your dog follow you! When your dog is focused on you, you’re ready for the walk! 🙌If your dog is a serial leash puller check out our other posts on how to teach your dog what the leash means and follow along for more dog training tips! 🐶
These five things can help your dog overcome separation anxiety! 👇⭐️Adding structure gives your dog a routine and rules to follow providing them clarity and reducing anxiety! ⭐️Avoid coddling and limiting affection because you only want to reward calm behaviors! Keep affection short and hold off on the baby talk!⭐️Kenneling is a must! This will help create space you and your dog both need to be independent! Kennel while you’re home, throughout the day, during the night, and while you leave! ⭐️Get your dog off the furniture! Have your dog sleep in the kennel at night and a new rule you can add for structure is no more couch cuddles!⭐️Not allowing your dog to follow you room to room to room! Tell your dog to place so they can practice calmness and independence because they do not need to be all up on your heels 24/7! Overcoming anxiety takes time! It’s important to stay consistent, be patient, and guide your dog so you both can have a more balanced life! Want another way to help your dog overcome their anxiety? Check out our last post! 🐕
An update on Bruno! ❤️
Bruno and his mom are crushing it together! A few days ago they headed out for a walk and Bruno was excellent in heel and he didn’t react when they saw a few dogs! 🔥
If you don’t remember this handsome guy, he joined us for a board and train back in June for separation anxiety, reactivity, as well as obedience!
The first clip is one I’ve found when he first arrived with us! Biting the leash, crying in the crate, all around crazy behavior!
It’s so cool to look back on how much he’s grown and keeps growing everyday with his mom! ⭐️
Bruno was recently back with us for boarding and we touched up on being calm on place and as guests come in as he would get so amped up! Now, he relaxes on place waits patiently for pets at home!
It warms our heart seeing these updates and hearing how things are going! ❤️ We are always here for any questions too!
Thank you for sharing the journey with us!
This little change can make a big difference for you and your dog! 👇When you reward your dog for heeling from the side they are not on, they’ll walk ahead and in front of you to get the reward! This will keep tripping you up as your dog will keep forging ahead to find that reward! Instead, reward from the side they are heeling on so your dog will be in position and focus on you more for that reward! 🐕Try it out with your dog and share with us what changes you see! 🙌
