Using cottonseed hulls in fall gardening offers several advantages that can help prepare your garden for winter and set the stage for a healthy spring. Here are some key reasons why cottonseed hulls are particularly beneficial during the fall season:

**1. Mulch for Winter Protection**
Insulation: Cottonseed hulls act as an insulating layer when used as mulch. They help protect plant roots from the cold by maintaining more stable soil temperatures during the winter months.
Soil Moisture Retention: By covering the soil, cottonseed hulls reduce evaporation, helping to retain moisture. This is particularly useful in the fall, as soil moisture levels can drop before the winter freeze.

**2. Nutrient Enrichment for Spring Growth**
Slow Breakdown: Cottonseed hulls decompose slowly, gradually releasing organic matter into the soil. As they break down over the winter, they enrich the soil with nutrients that will benefit plants in the spring.

Woodard Mercantile in Andover had a German shepherd dog that has arrived to visit. Has a wireless fence collar but not a phone to call. Please call 316-768-5509 or arrive there and claim him. If you know anyone missing a German shepherd would you call them and make sure their dog is at home. 😂😂 this was just east of the Andover YMCA on Kellogg. The dog has been taken to the ElDorado Shelter I believe.
