I really can’t believe the overall progress Ruby has made during our visits together! This girl would have me so on edge at times, hissing and growling at me (she loves her family but is nervous with other people- she actually scared the neighbors so much before when they tried to cat sit for Ruby and didn’t want to try it again so I was called and took on the job! lol) I used to go as far as to bring a little barrier in the house with me while I fed, watered and scooped the litter box, keeping an eye on Ruby at all times lol but over time she began to warm up to me. I don’t attempt to pat her yet, but we have a much better time during visits now and I can see she has started to trust me more! Ruby was also declawed (not by her current people) and sometimes that can contribute to aggression issues as well. Luckily Massachusetts passed a law this year outlawing this terrible act and hopefully no more cats will have to be subjected to that barbaric surgery (it is quite literally the same thing as having your fingers amputated at the first knuckle). Nail trimming helps with unwanted scratching behavior! Anyway, I wanted to share Ruby and our success story. Can’t wait to see you again Ruby! 😊
