Holiday cheer is in the air—but let’s keep it safe for our pets!
Festive decorations, twinkling lights, and shiny ornaments can all be hazards for curious pets. Think climbing cats and toppled trees, or a pup chewing on light cords.
Decorations aren’t the only concern. Holiday plants like mistletoe, holly, and poinsettias are toxic to cats and dogs. Stick to faux greenery or keep them out of reach.
Holiday treats can be tempting for pets, but many seasonal foods like chocolate, raisins, and latke are dangerous.
Check out this full guide on holiday pet safety—because festive fun is better without an emergency vet visit! 🐶❤️ https://pbxx.it/9j9Jxl

*** 12/19 Update from Ozzy's Mom *** Ozzy has been spotted out by Cold Spring Road (the road by what used to be the car museum which is now the cyber school). Residents, please keep a lookout. We want to get this girl home before Christmas. I know her family misses her and I'm sure she misses them. If spotted, please call the number on the poster. ***

Please share and be on the lookout for Ozzy!

Dear Pet Parents,
I can hardly believe it — only 9 more shopping days until the big day! Are you ready?

Did anyone else wake up to that beautiful blanket of snow this morning? While I personally love the snow, I know not everyone shares my enthusiasm, and for some, it might not have been the best way to start the day. Hopefully, we can bring a smile to your face with a little joke from Dr. Mike: "What's the weatherman's favorite food in winter?" Take a moment to think about that one!

With the holiday rush upon us, I strongly encourage you to double-check your supplies this week to avoid any last-minute surprises. If you need a hand, remember we have some wonderful online options like My Vetstore Online, Hill's to Home, and Purina Vet Direct, where you can easily order medications, supplements, and food with delivery straight to your door. I’ll be out of the office starting Friday, December 20th, and returning on January 2nd, so please note that the last day to order prescription diets and the final day I’ll be approving My Vetstore Online orders is Thursday, December 19th. Our next newsletter will be in the New Year.

If your pet falls ill over the holiday season, please call us early so we can accommodate you, as our schedule will be limited. Our office will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. In case of emergency, please reach out to the nearest ER. However, be aware that some ERs may have "pauses" in their hours due to staffing and capacity issues, a trend that started with COVID-19. It's always a good idea to call ahead and confirm that they can see your pet before you make the drive, unless of course it is a life or death situation. In some cases, they may even give you a specific time to come in. Emergency phones numbers are listed on our phone line and on our website.

*** Important Schedule Change ***

Please be advised of the following change to our office hours. This Friday, December 13th, our office will be open from 7:30 AM to noon instead of the previously scheduled 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. This change has not affected any of our previously scheduled appointments. If your pet is sick, please call as soon as possible so that we can accommodate them.

I’ve been recovering from a stomach virus over the past two days, which has affected our schedule. As a result, we will be closing early on Friday to accommodate our year-end inventory, which was originally planned for Wednesday but had to be postponed due to my illness.

We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience.

Stephanie

Dear Pet Parents,
The holiday season is officially here, and the countdown to Christmas is in full swing! While everyone is busy preparing for the big day, we wanted to send a quick reminder to double-check your pet’s needs.

But first, here’s a fun one from Dr. Mike to brighten your day: “Why should you never take sides in an argument at the dinner table?” Take a second to think about that – it’s a good one!

As we approach the holidays, don’t forget to stock up on prescription diets, medications, and supplements for your furry friends. With shipping delays potentially affecting availability, now’s the perfect time to plan ahead. I’ll be out of the office starting Friday, December 20th, and won’t return until the New Year. The last day to place special orders for prescription diets will be Tuesday, December 17th. Please be sure to check your pet’s supplies so there are no last-minute surprises!

If you need a hand, remember we have some fantastic online options, such as My Vetstore Online, Hill's to Home, and Purina Vet Direct, where you can order medications, supplements, and food and have them delivered right to your door.

To help Dr. Mike continue providing the best care possible, we ask that you kindly keep the focus of your visits on your pet’s health. While he loves chatting and sharing stories, staying on task helps ensure every pet gets the attention they deserve!

Office Hours for the Week of December 9th:
Monday, December 9th: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Tuesday, December 10th: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Wednesday, December 11th: 8:00 AM - Noon
Thursday, December 12th: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Friday, December 13th: 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Answer: Trick question – it’s the perfect time to take sides because no one’s paying attention. Bring Tupperware!

Also, we’re still happily accepting donations for both the cat and dog shelters until the end of the month. You can find their wishlists on our page and on the bulletin board in our lobby. It’s a great way to spread some extra holiday cheer!

As winter approaches, be sure to follow our page for real-time updates on delayed openings or office closures. You can also find any weather-related schedule changes on WFMZ Storm Center.

Wishing you and your pets a wonderful week filled with joy and holiday spirit!

As the holiday season draws near, shelters are bursting at the seams, and many lovable pets are still waiting for their furever homes! If you've been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, now is the perfect time to adopt. These sweet animals have been let down by their previous owners and are just waiting to shower you with love and affection. Not looking to adopt? No worries! You can still make a difference by sending a donation. Shelters can always use extra help, and every little bit counts.

Our office is now accepting donations through 12/31 to support local shelters, and we would love your help! The Carbon County Animal Shelter has a list of much-needed items: Pedigree Chopped Dog Food, Moist & Meaty Cheeseburger Flavored Dog Food, Soft Dog Treats, Bleach, Fabuloso Cleaner, Paper Towels, Large Dog Toys, Trash Bags, Leads, and Slip Leashes.

Additionally, Carbon County Friends of Animals urgently needs repairs after a mold issue in their attic threatened the health of the cats and the volunteers who care for them. The necessary repairs came with a hefty bill of over $7,000. They are asking for monetary donations to help with the costs. They could also use the following supplies: Towels & Small Blankets, Heating Pads, Laundry Detergent, Purina Cat Chow, Purina Kitten Chow, Fancy Feast Canned Kitten & Adult Food, Cat Litter, Pillowcases, Paper Towels, Cat Treats, KMR Kitten Milk Replacer, and Kitten Bottles.

This holiday season, let's come together and help these deserving pets find comfort and care. Thank you for your kindness and support!
