Our business is a collaboration between mother and daughter: Pamela Peas and Jacklyn Brown. Jacklyn has wanted to open her own dog-related facility since her early years in high school. Her passion for training dogs is something that has only grown since she first began training her dog competitively in 2009. She graduated 2 semesters early from Trine University with a Bachelor's degree in managem

ent and became a certified K9 handler in 2018. She taught fifth grade at an elementary school where she would often take her yellow Labrador Bailey to school with her and use him for interactive games with the students. Pam moved to Indiana with her husband Mark and made the decision to stay home and raise their 4 children. She has been active in the Wabash 4-H Dog Club parent committee and has traveled to visit Jacklyn on her K9 jobs. Jacklyn is thankful her mother gave her the opportunity to open a business together to do something they both love.

B&T Daisy spent 2 weeks doing some intensive training following our basic obedience group class. She’s a golden retriever just shy of 1 year old.

Daisy struggles the most with engagement around distractions & impulse control. She loves people & dogs so much that she frequently leaves her owner as an afterthought when around fun action.

Daisy’s a smart dog & easily motivated. She has learned so much in the last 2 weeks, but the most exciting part is the future! She is off to a great start, but with plenty more potential for furthering & adding new skills to her toolbox. See you again soon, Daisy! 🌼

Come on a walk with us 🚶🏻‍♀️

B&T Nala joined us to watch my nephews baseball game! Since she has 2 young boys in her household, I figured this would be an appropriate training outing. There were 2 games going on, lots of kids & probably half a dozen dogs. She was very well behaved, settled nicely, very friendly & confident in a new setting. Good girl! ⚾️

I tend to intentionally mix up how I handle Rip as I want to stay away from handler dependency. However, this is a perfect example of a handler’s role in setting the dog up for success.In the first clip, Rip is amped up. He’s searching fast & loose. You see him hit odor, but he doesn’t commit to it because he needs to slow down. So I interrupt him & in the next clip, I handle right in front of him, essentially blocking to slow him down. This isn’t the only way or option here, just one.I often handle off/away from Rip as you want a bomb dog to lead the way. However, I do believe it to be important to show Rip a variety of pictures & make sure he’s able to anchor down in odor, regardless of what I’m doing. In this instance, you see a drastic difference in the two videos and he’s able to execute a much more detailed search- and all I’m doing is controlling the pace.

Rip has been focusing on deep hides lately as they tend to be hardest for him in comparison to area or depth. Watch him problem solve this scenario 🧨

Harry and his ‘brother’ Kevin proof their listening skills around each other both on and off leash! Harry is currently doing a board & train, Kevin completed his almost a year ago. Now with Kevin visiting, Harry gets to practice his new skills & Kevin picks up right where he left off!

Our first puppy class of 2024 graduated last night 🎓 We prioritized environmental exposure to different sights, sounds & surfaces. We discussed how to set your dog up for success in your home & daily life. We introduced basic obedience skills like sit, down, place, come, wait & loose leash walking. & we practiced engagement around distractions! Great job to these pups & handlers, I hope to see you all again soon 🤍🐾

Rip working a hide on a charter bus at the Indy NBA All Stars. We don’t get the opportunity to train inside them very often & watching him navigate the narrow aisles is entertaining. He celebrated by playing fetch with the bus driver 🔥💣 Merrills Detector Dog Services
