📍 Another Turn Tack in Purcellville, Virginia, now carries EZium! They are a full service consignment tack shop selling items for the rider, the horse, and the barn.

Another Turn Tack was born out of a real necessity in Loudoun County. The area needed a local tack store where equine and rider items are offered at a reasonable price with friendly and helpful staff. Karen McCarthy launched the business in 2013 after cleaning out friends' haylofts, tack rooms and trailers, offering cleaned and gently used items for horse and human and selling them out of her farmhouse. Soon after she moved the business into the White Hotel in Purcellville. Karen is a life-long equestrian of the hunter/jumper, dressage and foxhunting disciplines and has been known to be called the tack " Oracle".

In the Winter of 2016 Another Turn Tack went through a few more changes. First it moved to the Main Street Purcellville location, where it completely filled a 5,000 square foot warehouse. Next, the business onboarded Adair Soho as partner, who had recently retired from Corporate America.

In December 2021, Another Turn Tack moved to 221 N 21st Street in Purcellville. As the store grows, it continues to offer the same happy and knowledgeable customer support staff to assist its growing customer base, offering the best service and comprehensive stock of both new and gently used tack and apparel. “I purchased my quarter horse mare about 3 years ago. In that time, she begin exhibiting some unwanted behaviors, such as rearing, bucking, and basically just losing her mind. It was primarily at the beginning of most rides. It would be a fight the first 20 minutes or so, then she would be completely fine.I later learned that this is why the previous owners sold her at the auction I got her from.

In those years, I ruled out everything under the sun, including any kind of pain and I'll fitting equipment. But, still every time I got on, she would tense and throw a fit. I started to just assume she was just young and would grow out of it. She turned 6 this year. She's never really been spooky (in fact I purchased her primarily for the mounted patrol unit I volunteer with for the local Sheriff's department and as an obstacle horse), so I never really thought about calming supplements. My equine chiropractor had suggested magnesium, but nothing really seemed to help. She's always been a great horse otherwise, very willing to work with a great mind and personality, but with the sporadic unwanted behaviors, I couldn't take anymore. I was at a loss and unfortunately, was at the point I was about to sell her.

Then I found EZium and everything changed. Within four days I noticed an incredible difference. Riding buddies could also tell she seemed more relaxed. She doesn't tense when I get on and the rearing and bucking episodes have completely stopped since I've started her on it. “I’m writing to share the story of my little mare, Roxie.

Last summer Roxie started exhibiting symptoms of headshaking, including massive amounts of twitching as if there were flies all over her, tossing her head, and generally looking stressed and bothered. It worsened to the point that she could not lower her head to eat and had to be stalled with her hay and water elevated.

We tried so many things, including antihistamines, the liquid titanium mask, Bute, etc. We did an ultrasound of her nuchal ligament and treated that for inflammation with no success. Nothing worked. We finally tried gabapentin, which did work, hallelujah.
This year, Roxie has a teenage student of mine who asked to show her. Because gabapentin is not show legal, we set about finding another solution. We did trials of electrolytes, a titanium mask, and charted her symptoms with and without the gabapentin. She can go about 5 days without it before the symptoms return, consistently.

We decided to try EZium - and it works. I’m amazed. It works just as well as the gabapentin. Roxie went to her first weekend show in late April, and then went again for the day in June, with a 5 point increase in her score. Her rider is enjoying growing her skills and the pony’s confidence at shows, and she stays on the EZium and stays well.
Well, last week I forgot to include it in the feed order, so she has been off of it for about 4-5 days… and last night had an “episode” of massive twitching, inability to lower her head, and just a lot of upset. I was distressed to see this, and then this morning woke up and remembered — she’s out of EZium! Once on it again she’s doing just fine.
