Focuss K9 is looking to hire a Kennel Technician.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with animals in a professional setting as well as a
true passion for animal welfare.
They will be responsible for feeding, watering, exercising, and cleaning up after the animals in our care as well as providing them with love and attention.
Kennel Technician will be assisting our Master K9 Trainer with training as well, so this is an opportunity to advance in position.
Pay range will be $12.00 to $16.00 an hour depending on
experience.

Responsibilities include:
• Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for all animals in the kennels
• Exercise and socialize animals according to needs and temperament
• Feed and provide fresh water to all animals
• Administer medications to animals as prescribed
• Bathing and basic grooming
• Handling dogs of various temperaments
• Monitor animals for signs of illness or injury and report any changes to a supervisor
• Assisting with training
• Strong organizational skills (record keeping, time management, follow up, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements to apply:
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drugscreen.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours a day.
• Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs.
• Must be able to bend, squat, stretch, etc.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Must be punctual.

Our condolences and prayers go out to the family of Deputy Vargas, along with his entire law enforcement family.

We are deeply saddened to share the loss of Deputy Jesus Vargas, who faithfully served the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years. Deputy Vargas was shot and killed in the line of duty. He was a dedicated public servant, known for his integrity, compassion, and commitment to our community.

He was more than a team member—he was a friend, mentor, and inspiration to everyone who knew him. His professionalism and kind nature left a lasting impact on our office and the residents he served.

Our hearts go out to Deputy Vargas’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. We also stand with our Sheriff’s Office family as we grieve this loss together.

We would like to thank HPD for pursuing this investigation for the suspect in this heinous act. We will release information on this page regarding memorial and remembrance services.

Deputy Vargas’s service and the positive impact he made in Brazoria County will never be forgotten. He will be greatly missed.
