The development of genetics has generated hyper prolific sows that are producing large litters, but with a smaller birthweight and a large weight variation between pigs within the litter. Low body weight piglets have a high risk of falling behind and high mortality and morbidity. Helping fall behind piglet to regain the growth would lead to better survivability.

Supplementation of weaned low body weight piglets with Spray-Dried Animal Plasma (SDP) could be the key technology that improves fall behind piglets’ growth and survivability.
