Ankeny Animal Health Clinic has an immediate opening for a full time veterinary technician. We are currently looking for an energetic and experienced veterinary technician or skills equivalent to expand our small animal team. Preferred applicants will be efficient with animal restraint, blood draws, IV catheter placement, running routine lab work, radiology and surgical procedures, etc.

This is a full-time position with a 4 day work week, competitive pay, paid time off, and 401K.

Required Qualifications:
Experience as a veterinary technician - certified or skills equivalent
Excellent Communication Skills
Positive and Motivated Mindset
Ability to work with both dogs and cats. Large or small.
Reliable

Daily Responsibilities:
Assisting in animal restraint that allows for minimal stress to our patients while ensuring the safety of our patients, owners, and employees
Exam Preparation including; rooming patients, taking accurate notes from clients about patient needs, drawing up vaccinations, and running routine lab work
Assisting in technician appointments, radiology and in hospital patient care
Blood draws and IV catheter placement
Running in-house lab work including; chemistries, urinalysis and cytology
Filling medications
Client Education and Communication
Maintaining clean exam rooms, common client areas, and lab work areas

Salary: From $13.50 per hour

You will be supported by a group of highly trained professionals whose common goal is to give our clients the best experience possible. This position is a full-time position with a 4 day work week and the occasional Saturday. We offer competitive pay, paid time off, and 401K. Start date no later than September 6th, 2022.

Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Experience with veterinary reception preferably within a fileless small animal clinic
Excellent communication skills & phone etiquette
Ability to multitask & prioritize in a fast paced environment
Ability to type and operate basic computer programs/equipment
Ability to lift 30 lbs

Daily Responsibilities
Greeting clients
Check patients in/out from appointments, boarding & surgeries
Answering multi-line phone and returning emails
Scheduling appointments and surgeries
Making follow-up and reminder calls
Accurate data input
Receive & record patient medical records
Client communications regarding veterinary products such as prescription foods, medications, doctor’s instructions, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives
Variety of other office duties including maintaining a clean work environment and reception area

Clinic Hours
Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm
Saturdays 8:00am-Noon

Ankeny Animal Health Clinic is looking for a kennel and cleaning technician. The ideal candidate would be a first-year veterinary technician student who lives in Ankeny however this is not a requirement. Routine weekly hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings and up to 3 shifts on Sundays. This position would offer approximately 10 hours per week with competitive pay. Holiday and weekend hours are required. Additional hours will be required over holidays.

Responsibilities Include
Caring for dogs and cats and giving medications when needed
Walking dogs and picking up after them
Routine cleaning of clinic, cages, and runs

Meet Aimathee, he is a 4 year old sweetheart. Aim belongs to Mikayla who you will find at the front desk most days of the week. Aim spends his free time, catching all the bugs he can get and going on long walks with his big sister. Aim is a huge mommas boy, and loves to come to work with her when he gets the chance..(some times he even fakes being sick just so he can come hang at the clinic)

Linus belongs to Christa one of our clinic techs. Linus enjoys hiking, swimming, frisbee, playing with friends, swimming with Trixie and Lulu and napping in reclining chairs. He diligently protects the yard from 4 legged invaders and patrols the neighborhood nightly for coyotes. Check back daily for more cute pictures of Linus!

Just wanted to update everyone on our hours for Memorial Weekend.
We will be open as normal Friday from 7:30-5:30 and Saturday from 8:00-12:00.
We will be closed on Monday, May 31. We will reopen Tuesday at 7:30 AM.
