Lone Star Dog Ranch & Dog Ranch Rescue

Lone Star Dog Ranch & Dog Ranch Rescue The Lone Star Dog Ranch is a one of a kind cage free boarding facility 30 minutes north of Dallas in Anna, Texas. The rescue's website is dogranchrescue.com

Here dogs are free to play, swim, sleep, and be loved as they wish, all day. There are many things about Lone Star Dog Ranch that make it
unique and better than any other daycare or boarding facility. We are truly one of a kind. We are a completely social facility. The only time your dog will be confined is for meals and sleep. The rest of their time is theirs to enjoy themselves while you are awa

y enjoying yourself. Dogs are free to swim, play with other dogs, lay under a shade tree, sleep on the couch in the air conditioning or go back to bed and be alone if they want. They can choose to go inside the ranch building or outside anytime they want. We are an all inclusive facility. We don’t charge any extra for playtime, extra hugs, one on one time, swimming, laptime, special food, medication or any other special requirement. Everything is included in the boarding and day care rates. All dogs that stay with us must pass our evaluation to ensure that they can get along with everyone. For this reason we also require that all dogs be spayed or neutered

Lone Star Dog Ranch is family owned and operated and all of us live on the property. The dogs are never left unattended. The care here is unmatched anywhere. Dog Ranch Rescue is a completely separate entity from Lone Star Dog Ranch. It began in 2015 and The Village Sanctuary building housing the rescues is on the same 32 acres. All inquiries about rescue dogs is handled by email at [email protected] and the website for the rescue is dogranchrescue.com. The longer it took for the ER to call I felt was the better, maybe they would find something and have to take him to surgery and that would take more time. The phone rang sooner rather than later and it wasn't anything I wanted to hear. Levon was deteriorating more and more and inside his stomach was a huge mass, his stomach had lots of grass in it and that was what we were seeing in the two X-rays, Levon trying to feel better by eating grass but it wasn't anything that would make him feel better.

I had no options, my back up agains the wall, I told them to wake him up, I was on my way. I got to hold him and look into his eyes and tell him over and over again what a good man he is, and how much I love him. I just cannot believe that I have lost this dog as he quietly faded away. I feel like I've been beaten and robbed. I feel like my heart has been removed, between Bea and Levon I just don't think I can cope. I told my family I just don't know if I want to love dogs anymore it hurts too much.

This precious good man was only 6 years old, three of those years he lived in a filthy mill being beat up and mangled by other dogs covered in wounds, three years ago Ricky Barnes went to pick him up when he was lucky enough to be purchased by our rescue, I fell in love with him the first time I laid my eyes on him and it never changed. He was simply the most affectionate, sweetest, loveliest dog I have ever owned. If I was sitting, he was beside me touching me, if I was sleeping he was by my side every single night, all night.

I loved this dog more than I can even put into words and I am so mad, and I feel so robbed to lose him at 6 years old from F%^ #$ #%% cancer.

I have to step away, I need to be alone, there is nothing to make it better, nothing to heal the pain this has left. 3 days ago I had a dog that had an upset stomach, today I said goodbye.

If you want to do anything for me, I would love it if you made a little donation in the name of this very good man, so in his honor we can rescue more dogs just like him suffering in mills every damn day.

I love you so much Levon, and I will miss you forever

I am unsure when the page will return, I just hurt too much right now.

Things have gone from bad to worse, the ER called me and said his X-rays show a thickened stomach, duodenum and pylorus and it is not pancreatitis. He is feeling terrible with drooling from nausea and he is leaking diarrhea.

The biggest concern is this is a mass and I may be faced with saying goodby to my beloved Levon. I called Dr. Reno who is on vacation to tearfully discuss what I am facing, she called the ER spoke to the doctor and had them send her the x-rays, she had two views and it looked to her like something in the stomach may have moved in the two views, which would lead us to think their might be a blockage of some kind that has blocked his duodenum.

They are putting him under anesthesia and will scope him and see what they see, if they see a blockage they will take him to surgery and go of after it, the worst thing possible is that they don't see a blockage and instead see that it is cancer and he has masses rather than a foreign body. If that is the reality then I will lose my precious boy which I can barely stand to even think about.

I will be over here holding my breath and waiting for a call.

My poor Levon he just kept getting worse last night, I texted everyone and said I need someone to drive me and Levon to the ER, he just couldn’t rest and was in pain so Emma came and got me, I can’t see to drive well enough at night so I was grateful.

They took him back and ran preliminary tests and said it was clear he had pancreatitis. He will be staying for a day or two while they work to stabilize him and get him to feeling better 🙁❤️.

Sweet Darla, she’s definitely the most shy one in the group with her brothers Spanky and Alfalfa. She’s doing better each day but will need a loving patient family to help her continue to feel safe. Just a pup and has not had any chance to gain skills to develop confidence.

Sadly Freddy Freeman has pr*****ed again, Eva is driving him to the ER now. People ask us why does this happen so frequently with our Frenchie rescues. The most obvious answer is parasites, which the dogs from this breeder always have, covered in fleas and filled with every worm and Giardia is how her dogs live. He will most likely need surgery, neutering will also help to minimize the size of his prostate. Bottom line is it will cost several thousand dollars to get this handled, a supposedly free dog from a sh*tty breeder.

She has been released from the shelter and is on her way to meet her driver Julia at the sanctuary. She is absolutely gorgeous and looks very pregnant to me, I will head over to the sanctuary when she arrives and get a closer look at her.

I need to talk about this girl and fill you in on what is happening with her as we have many people contacting us about her but we have been working on her for a few days now.

She was picked up as a stray in Dallas, being pregnant was suspected but we have no way to confirm that as she is on stray hold and we cannot get her out to have her examined. In these photos she looked pregnant to us, and looked to have a little bit of milk. in a video we got last night she was filled to the brim with milk so things have changed.

Her stray hold is up today at 11:45 and Terrie will be picking her up at exactly that time.

The other major issue for us unfortunately is we don't have a place for a pregnant Mastiff to go so I had to reach out to rescue friend Debbie Nash from Bullmastiff rescue to see if she could help. Thankfully she located another rescue in Illinois that said they could take her, had an experienced foster who could help her with a litter but they needed transport. The other problem is Ricky is out of town until next week.

Laura reached out to a village member Julia Downs who has helped us transport dogs long distance in the past. She is driving down from her home in Kansas now and will meet Terrie at the sanctuary when she arrives with her, and Julia and a friend will then take her and drive her to foster mom Leea in Illinois who will take over from there.

Here's what we don't know, is she pregnant? or did she deliver pups that maybe died prior to being picked up as a stray? or is she pregnant and her milk is now pouring in and the puppies will be born any minute? we just don't know, and we just had to plan for anything and everything. Hopefully when Terrie gets her out of there we will be able to tell better if her belly is big with babies in addition to her breasts being filled with milk.

Julia has experience delivering pups and is taking supplies with her on the road just in case she begins having babies enroute.
This is just another aspect of stress in rescue, but we don't get to focus on how it makes us feel, we have to get the work done to rescue the dog, and get her and her potential pups to safety, and if we can't do it with our rescue then we are so very grateful to work with other like minded rescues who will reach out and help.

I will update you as we work thought this rescue.

I know that none of us are surprised about this post, but I must say Wes needed a lot of time to be ready for me to post it. Losing Marco was devastating, he was one of a kind, he was the best.

Why does a dog like this show up a couple of days after Marco passes? we all have our own feelings and thoughts about that. When we were contacted about him Wes told Laura to reach out to Doberman rescues and see if they could help, if not he would foster him but he tried hard to push him away. The North Texas Doberman rescue had no room and it therefore forced Wes's hand. The adjustment period was non existent, it was as if he had always been here, just a little work on housebreaking but he slipped right into the pack seamlessly.

Wes says:

If he had showed up when Marco was still here he would have kept him anyway, that’s why his name is Polo now, because that’s what it would have been if Marco was still alive.

Their personalities are so similar it’s almost like Marco is still here. Polo is not silly at all, but he’s starting to want to play with Lego.

I think of Marco as his brother, and I talk to him about his brother all the time. He sleeps in his brother’s crate when I’m not at home and it's as if he already knows all of this.

Let me welcome to the family and to the ranch, good boy Polo 🥰

Good night everyone

Keeping an eye on Levon, he just isn't feeling well, He began eating his food slow yesterday but today he has refused food. Started him on Cerenia for any nausea but still no luck to even eat a small amount of GI food. Nothing crazy going on, just very tired and sleeping and will not eat. Hopefully its a little bug that will pass by tomorrow.
