Meet Sunshine, our little miss sunshine who has overcome incredible challenges to shine brighter than ever! This sweet yellow lab mix, weighing under 30 pounds, has a heart of gold. Despite a tragic past where she was abandoned and shot, Sunshine's resilience knows no bounds. After a double amputation, she now dashes around with boundless joy, embracing every moment of life. She adores dogs, kids, and even cats, radiating love and playfulness.

Meet Desoto! This 11-month-old pup is looking for a forever home! He LOVES long naps and cuddles. He is pretty low-energy and rarely barks. Desoto is good with strangers and other dogs but prefers to stay away from cats and other small animals. Currently he is working on his house training but is a very quick learner. Meet one of our amazing fosters, Sara! Sara has been fostering for about 8 months and says she became a foster because she has rescue dogs and her family always had adopted dogs so she wanted to help out. She notes that being patient and loving the pups are the two most important things to remember when working as a foster. One of Sara’s favorite foster memories is seeing one of her more nervous pups jump around and play with toys and generally being happy after being so nervous. One thing that surprised Sara after starting to foster is how much fun it is spending time with the dogs, even when she sees them moving into their forever homes.

TLBD is thankful for all dog fosters! Our rescue group would not be here without them!

Meet Pepper! Pepper really understood the assignment when we asked for a cute photo and then a silly photo. This sweet girl is a 3.5 month old lab mix and is looking for an active home where she can play with her family (human or dog). 📢 Calling all TLBD supporters, adopters, and fellow dog lovers!

We have an update about our incredible long-term resident, the beautiful Garrett. Garrett arrived in our care 2.5 years ago as a snuggly and dog-friendly boy, but he faced some challenges. When faced with things he didn't agree with, such as handling his paws or putting on his harness, he would resort to attempted biting. Despite these behavioral hurdles, Garrett's devoted long-term foster stood by his side and we are so thankful.

In our unwavering commitment to Garrett and his potential, we made a momentous decision. This May, we enrolled him in a highly sought-after three-week Board and Train program, providing him with an exceptional training opportunity valued at an incredible $5,000. Currently, Garrett is receiving the finest education, honing his skills and abilities.

We've poured our hearts into this remarkable dog because we firmly believe he deserves a second chance. Now, we turn to our beloved community for assistance in finding Garrett his forever home.

Garrett has come a long way in his journey. He is fully house-trained, crate-trained, e-collar trained, and off-leash trained. His happy temperament, eagerness to please, and love for cuddles make him an absolute joy to be around. With a curious spirit and a passion for exploring during walks, every adventure with Garrett becomes an unforgettable experience. He’s friendly with other dogs of all sizes and people as well. He loves greeting all the people and dogs at the dog parks he visits.

We seek an experienced owner who can maintain the training Garrett has received during his stay. The adopter will also be required to attend his "go home" session from training camp, scheduled for the end of May. Rest assured, we will provide necessary resources to ensure a smooth transition into his new home.

Please, help us spread the word and share Garrett's story. Let's join forces to find this deserving boy the loving forever home he so truly deserves. Together, we can make a difference in his life.

Meet Bo! This guy started out very shy but has been making incredible progress with his foster. He is now relaxed, playful with other pups, and can't get enough of pets and belly rubs! Bo absolutely LOVES walks; he gets so excited whenever he sees the leash, which he is excellent. He is a very sweet, gentle giant who may be a bit shy at first, but once he warms up he loves all the pets and attention. Bo loves toys, particularly any toy that makes noise. ADOPT GARRETT!
60lbs, 5 yrs old, Male

Garrett comes with a $5,000 board, and train scheduled for July at which point he will be ready to go to his forever as the perfect family dog. He will be 100% off-leash when he finishes training, and his new family will be invited to his go-home session and any follow-up sessions with his trainer! His new family needs to help him follow through with his training.

He has the SWEETEST disposition and loves to cuddle/snuggle. He LOVES playing with other dogs, especially his foster sister. He's a low key dude, wont need a ton of exercise, and is OK to be left alone.

UTD on vaccinations, neutered, 10lbs
JJ is an anxious boy afraid of loud noises and busy city streets. He needs a calm home outside of the city bustle to decompress and be loved on without adding to his anxieties. This also, unfortunately, means no young children. Also, due to his anxiety mainly being around noises and cars when walking on a leash, we would recommend a yard for him so he can transition easier especially if you have another pet.

JJ is a BIG cuddler who loves puzzles and enrichment, is potty trained and generally calm outside of his fear of big noises. He is active on walks but is a big napper once he gets home. He has shown progress with training tactics (rewards while on walks, food puzzles at home, etc) and is super loving and happy once he transitions to having his people around!

Gino is extremely friendly, loves attention, and according to his foster, "hugs are his favorite". He is a confident pup and an eager and fast learner that loves to spend time with his dog friends! Gino would do best in a home that has lots of love and is willing and ready to give cuddles.

Meet some of our adoptable dogs!!

Big Coop: a 6 year old bully mix who is ready to meet his perfect cuddle buddy. Cooper is a great dog who loves relaxing and laying in the sun. He is amazing with babies and kids, and there is not a person who he hasn't loved. He is crate trained, house trained, and an overall quiet boy.

Marigold: Meet Marigold! This smiling, smooching potato with legs, loves walks and would do well with an active family with or without other furry friends. Her foster describes her as well-trained and all-around a very good girl!

Garrett: Beautiful blondie Garrett is a snuggly 60-pound boy. After getting off the transport van, Garrett was the first pup to snuggle up to volunteers to say thank you for bringing him to a safe and happy foster home. He loves other dogs, cuddling, and running around his backyard with his high energy sister.

Garrett is a fantastic dog...when things go his way. When you ask Garrett to do something he doesn't want to do he can respond snappily. To help deal with this Little Black Dog is sending Garrett to a full three week Board and Train with a trusted partner. This means that Garrett will be receiving a $5,000 training and we are 100% confident he is goign to come out the other end an EXCEPTIONAL dog. Garrett needs an experienced owner who is willing to help uphold the training he's going to receive.

This is an incredible opportunity to adopt a professionally trained, and very sweet, dog! We will require whoever adopts Garrett to attend his "go home" session from training camp which will be at the end of May.

Sunshine has been through the ringer but is still shining. After being shot in Texas, paralyzed and left on the road, rescued by , poor sunshine has had another set back. TLBD had to make the hard decision to amputate her back two legs to avoid infection and improve her quality of life and comfort level. This expense has totaled over $8,500, so please help if you can!!
Despite all this, sunshine is still has sunny and happy as ever 🥰🥰

Can you foster Bo? This gentle boy is looking for a quiet foster family without young children where he can chill on the couch and play with a squeaky toy. He is good with other dogs and would ideally like a foster with dog experience who can help him manage any anxiety. He is OK being left alone, however!

Hello Everyone! Can you foster Ms. Peach starting at 10:30AM this Saturday? She is very sweet, good with all people and dogs! She hasn't been tested with kitties yet, is spayed, and has no health flags. She's only 40lbs so a pretty petite lady! If we can't find a foster, we'll have to leave this Georgia Peach behind at the shelter so please let us know if you can help!
