Dogs come from the wild, but nowadays they spend a lot of their time indoors. But you can tell by Ollie’s big chomp that the spirit of the wild is still alive and well in our dogs.

Meaty treaties for your fluffy valentine sweeties ♥️🐶

These are so easy to make if you have a food dehydrator at home. They’ll save you some money, and they also fit so well in the treat nooks of the Loblolly Pinecone dog toy!

What you’ll need:
- food dehydrator
- silicone chocolate molds
- ground meat (we used ground turkey and ground venison to get the festive Valentine’s Day hues)

Directions:
Spread the ground meat into the chocolate molds with a spatula so it’s flush with the top edge. Put them in the freezer for a few hours. Once frozen, pop the meat bars out of the molds and break into smaller squares. Arrange evenly on a wire baking screen (we use an air fryer basket and a pizza pan with holes) and dehydrate at 125° F for 10-12 hours.

Voila! We always keep these on hand to use for enrichment games and puzzles. The dogs wholly approve. You can also experiment with mixing in functional mushrooms, supplements like slippery elm bark, or vegetables like squash or pumpkin!

Thanks to everyone who responded to our color poll a few weeks ago! We wanted to show you the changes we made for our third toy colors because of your responses! The two colors on top were the originally proposed colors, the two on bottom are the ones we’re doing now — in line with the overwhelming response for lighter, softer colors.

Monet said it best: “Color is my daylong obsession, joy, and torment.” This quote hits me right between the eyes. It’s so fun playing with color and seeing all the possibilities Mother Nature offers us: bold, bright, soft & light. But choosing only a few and ensuring they’re the “best” ones is so difficult for me. A heavy feeling of analysis paralysis. So happy and thankful to have all the feedback from you to keep me from getting lost in the world of color swatches!

Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day, and there are thousands of homeless veterans across the US who stick it out on the streets with their dogs if their local shelter doesn’t allow pets. With our Milkcap Mushroom dog toy launching at noon today, we wanted to partner with Greater Good Charities to help provide homeless veterans and their dogs with some essentials.

Greater Good’s Good Packs and Pet Packs include blankets, socks, dog food and treats, toys, collapsible bowls, and a slip lead among other things — warmth, nourishment, and a little joy.

As a veteran with a dog who saved my life, this cause is near to my heart. It’s something I’d like us to do together every November. So with every order purchased throughout this month, we’re donating 4% to Greater Good to purchase these packs for homeless veterans and their dogs.

We got a small number of the rice brown Milkcap Mushrooms dog toys early! The🪻lilac haze (thank you, Taylor) and 🍊tangerine red ones are still in production but coming!

You’ve all been waiting so long so we don’t want to do a long rollout. We’re thinking about just dropping them on our website Sunday at noon (EST). What are your thoughts? Let us know in the poll!

We proudly manufacture our dog toys in the US and proudly support the Democratic (and democratic) ticket this November.

It’s been really heartening for me personally to see the Democratic Party move strongly towards labor and reclaiming patriotism and heartland values. I’ve always felt a little bit in an awkward space being a veteran from the Midwest while also a liberal and a feminist with a business. The Harris/Walz ticket brings all those ideals together in a big tent way that has me hopeful.

Make a plan to vote, and vote early if you can!

🍄‍🟫 we’re FINALLY there! The latest Milkcap Mushroom samples came in this morning, and we’re so happy with the result! It was a lot of tweaking to get the material to fill in the mold properly but totally worth the wait. Cannot thank you all enough for being patient with us!

Now that we’ve signed off on the sample, we’re hoping to get a small initial order within the next month followed by a much larger one!
