Happy National Cat Day to all our feline loving clients!

Did you know? Cats have an extra organ that allows them to "taste" scents in the air! It’s called the Jacobson’s organ (or vomeronasal organ), located on the roof of their mouth. That’s why you might see a cat with its mouth slightly open, a funny face called the "Flehmen response," when they’re investigating a new scent. 😸

Did you know? Dogs can actually sense time! 🕒 Studies have shown that dogs can predict future events, like knowing when it's time for their walk or when their owner will be home, by picking up on cues and routines. Some experts even believe they can sense the passage of time through their highly developed sense of smell!

Did you know your dog makes you healthier?

😅 Dogs Can Help Us Cope in Times of Crisis
Dogs can help us recover psychologically from a crisis. Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine discovered that military veterans with PTSD can do better both physiologically and psychologically when they have a service dog. Veterans with a service dog had significantly fewer symptoms of PTSD and showed improved coping skills.

🏃‍➡️ Dogs Encourage You to Move
Those long treks along sidewalks, trails, and paths add up. A 2019 British study discovered that dog owners are nearly four times more likely than non-dog owners to meet daily physical activity guidelines.

❤️Dogs Are Good for Your Heart
Owning a dog can help you live longer. A comprehensive review of studies published between 1950 and 2019 found that dog owners had a lower risk of death. Studies suggest that dog owners have lower blood pressure levels and improved responses to stress. Research has concluded that the bond between humans and dogs reduces stress, which is a major cause of cardiovascular problems.

🍂 Fall is here, and that means it's time to switch up your pet care routine! 🐾 From keeping them warm to watching out for ticks and seasonal allergies, these simple tips will help your fur baby enjoy the cozy season safely. 🧡

1. Watch Out for Ticks
Ticks are still active in the fall, especially in wooded or grassy areas. Make sure to continue flea and tick prevention, and check your pet’s fur regularly after walks.

2. Beware of Seasonal Allergies
Just like humans, pets can experience fall allergies. If you notice excessive itching, sneezing, or watery eyes, consult your vet for allergy relief options.

3. Keep Them Warm
As temperatures drop, pets, especially short-haired breeds, may need extra warmth. Consider pet-friendly jackets or sweaters for outdoor walks.

4. Monitor Their Weight
Pets may become less active as the weather cools. Make sure they’re still getting enough exercise and adjust their food intake to avoid unhealthy weight gain.

5. Beware of Poisonous Plants
Fall brings beautiful foliage, but some plants like acorns and mushrooms can be toxic to pets. Keep them away from fallen leaves and plants they might ingest.
