Last year, we left a piece of our hearts in the islands, and it will always take us back. This weekend, thanks to we traveled to Nassau to fly 44 potcakes, pitcakes and potcats from the Caribbean islands to the shores of Nova Scotia!
The love and gratitude in the eyes of these animals is second to none, and their people are some of the most devoted we’ve had the pleasure of working with…and get to call our friends. We are so thankful!
Terri-Lyn, of South Paw Conservation in Nova Scotia, spent over a month in the islands preparing these animals for an epic journey toward a new life and at long last, a home.
Many of these dogs and cats were rescued from the streets, suffering malnutrition, illness, and injuries inflicted by a life of survival. Thankfully, .cottage and handfuls of incredible humans rescued, rehabilitated and revived these animals. To say they breathed life back into them is not just a turn of phrase; these animals will always bear the scars of street life…but they’re slowly fading with every tail wag, wiggle, offer of a paw, and lick of a tongue.
There are angels in those islands, with four legs and two…and you can find absolute heroes in Halifax.
The hugs, joy, smiles and welcoming hearts that greeted our plane as soon as the door opened was one of our most amazing rescue experiences! People really are THAT NICE in Canada! 🇨🇦❤️
We had the pleasure of meeting the outstanding team at South Paw Conservation and the incredible fosters and adopters who traveled from all over Nova Scotia to bring these pets into their homes. This is a community who loves first and asks questions later…and those questions are usually asking what else they can do to help.
We had the very best weekend…seeing old friends, making new ones, and changing the lives of nearly 50 animals….we sure hope we get to do it again soon!
