-Dogs with short noses are at higher risk due to their condensed facial anatomy and restricted ability to cool themselves

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.
Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.

The eclipse is today! Here are some tips from our friends at the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) to help you and your pet prepare for the eclipse.
🕔Minimize Stress: Pets likely won't stare at the sun. However, maintaining their routine (feeding, walks) can significantly reduce stress during the eclipse.
🏡Safe Havens: Keep indoor pets inside, especially those prone to anxiety. Creating a calm environment with lights on and soothing music can further comfort them.
🔵ID is Key: It's a great time to make sure your microchip info and/or pet ID tags are up to date. Unexpected events and commotion are more likely during eclipses.
🚗Traveling with Pets? Factor in bathroom breaks and ensure proper air conditioning in the car during the eclipse.
😎Sunglasses Not Needed: Pet sunglasses aren't necessary, remember they won't be as interested in the eclipse as we may be.
