SMPC had a great time at the Games Rally yesterday!

Leah joined a super scramble team with Blue Mountain Pony Club, Manada Creek Pony Club, and Redland Goshen Pony Club. Their team placed 3rd in the Intermediate division and won the Games Sportsmanship trophy!!

Chloe was a Guardian Angel for a Walk/Trot team from Redland Goshen Pony Club and Manada Creek Pony Club. Her team came in 2nd place!

Most importantly, Leah and Chloe both tried something new, made new friends and had a lot of fun! Reach out if you want to join us for more fall adventures!

Fall eventing rally was today at The Marlborough Horse Trials! The team was prepared for an exciting day of eventing. Our team placed as follows:

6th horse management
5th team overall
Chloe 2nd BN
Sofia 4th BN
Leah 7th starter

Today’s mounted meeting was in preparation for next weeks eventing rally to be held at Rosaryville State Park along side The Marlborough Horse Trials unrecognized event. 4 of our team members headed out with our favorite trainer Janice Binkley and our favorite coach Sam Cecil. While walking the course, Janice and Sam guided Leah and Sofia through there level. Reviewing each question and how best to solve these questions while on course next week.

Chloe and Penelope talked through details to prepare for HM requirements of the day and put together a group chat for the team to connect through out the week helping each get everything together they will need.

At the end of the team members were confident with their plan for the rally. Next Sunday will be exciting!

Games Rally Practice!

Last week we used our unmounted meeting to prepare for the upcoming Maryland Region Games Rally. While the games are played on horseback at the actual event, we got creative and practiced on foot!

🐴 Swimming in the Patuxent River! 🌊☀️

Last weekend, SMPC took the horses swimming! 🐎💦 It was a perfect way to cool off on a hot day. Some splashed, some rolled, and some swam out beyond where their feet touched the sand.

SMPC field trip!
Yesterday we traveled to Foxhall Equine to tour their veterinary medicine and rehabilitation facility. We learned about the variety of ways they help horses recover from illnesses and injuries and keep our equine friends feeling their best. On the way home we stopped at Maryland Saddlery, Butler and were greeted with free ice pops! Thank you to Foxhall and MD Saddlery for your hospitality!

This past Thursday at Dovecote Equestrian, Janice hosted a clinic on Lugnging to help prepare members for the C1 HM test. Both St. Margaret's Pony Club and Annapolis Pony Club members were present for a demonstration and walk through different types of lunging equipment and how to use it properly. Thank you Janice for a great and informative clinic.

Had our mounted lesson with our fav coach Janice Binkley. Grid work was on tap for tonight and boy did these ladies and their geldings get a good workout.

Maryland Region Pony Club Show Jump Rally at Morven Park International Equestrian Center was this weekend. Our team came excited for a great weekend of jumping. Even with the storms blowing through and a rain delay due to thunder & lightning we came out with some clear rounds and lessons learned.

Our Senior team scored 2nd in HM and 1st place over all. And Chloe received 5th place, Donald and Boo tied for 3rd in the equation round.

Now on to Tetrahlon in 2 weeks.
