We are practitioners of natural horsemanship and take great pride in earning the horse's trust and respect to achieve our training goals. I've been involved with horses for the vast majority of my life and I'm very passionate about good horsemanship. I am a practitioner of the vaquero style of natural horsemanship, using methods that are respectful and least invasive to the horse. Those kinds of t
hings have no place here. We prefer to earn the trust and respect from the horse to achieve our training goals. We, as horsemen, strive to understand why a horse does what he does and find the safest, most effective ways to teach the horse for both the horse and rider. I have extensive experience in c**t starting and I'm well-versed in advanced horsemanship as well as problem solving. There is no horse that I'm not willing to try to help. Here are some of the services we provide:
C**t Starting: We will work with the untouched or lightly handled c**t until it will quietly and comfortably accept the snaffle bit, a saddle ,and a rider. We will start with halter breaking and progress through the necessary groundwork and mounted training until the c**t/filly is comfortably moving out and stopping with a mounted rider. Training for the green horse: Most of the work will be under saddle and using a snaffle bit. We will help the horse be more responsive to the legs and soft to the reins. We will help the horse learn lateral and longitudinal flexion and time will be spent teaching the horse to move its hindquarters and front quarters independently. The horse will learn transitions through the gaits. We will also begin to teach the horse proper backing technique. Training for the intermediate horse: Time will be spent helping the horse to perform smoother gait transitions both up and down. The horse will learn to back circles. The horse will begin to learn the haunches-in technique, leg-yielding, and basic lead changes. Training for the advanced horse: We will begin teaching the horse flying lead changes, sit-down stops, backing in a hurry, and spinning. The horse will begin to learn to respond to the rider using one hand. As the horse progresses, we will move the horse into the two-rein and eventually straight up in the bridle. Problem Solving: We will help the horse overcome any particular problem such as trailer-loading, crowding and leaning on the human, biting, kicking, bolting, running through the bit, and etc. Clinics: We can provide any of our services in a clinical or seminar setting upon request.
