Today is National Dress Up Your Pet Day! This fun day was created in 2009 by Colleen Paige, with the goal of raising pet adoption awareness. And by making it fun for pet owners and their furry companions, it has became such a great way to get more people involved. Colleen Paige also started the National Dog Day and National Cat Day holiday, with the “underlying goal to help save lives and give homeless animals as much exposure as possible.”

So let’s have a little fun with your pets today – and make your pet the best dressed in town. Today is the perfect opportunity to break out the bejeweled collars, sassy sweaters, and fashion accessories. And don’t forget to give them a big hug for being such troopers!

January is Walk Your Dog Month. Get up off that sofa, get moving, and don’t let those sub-zero winter temperatures drag you down. Dogs need plenty of exercise throughout the year and the best way to keep them active in winter is to take them for regular walks. Even a short walk around the block on a cold day makes a big difference. So, begin this year with a pledge — better health for you and your dog!

Meet Ryder.🥰Ryder is a very sweet and friendly 6-month-old Siamese kitten who came to Angel of Hope with his sister, Leia. Both kittens went through treatment for URI symptoms when they first arrived at Angel of Hope. Unfortunately, Ryder’s health quickly declined after his URI treatment. He had a very swollen belly, he was jaundice, he was extremely lethargic and he has had some vison loss – whether that will come back or not, we do not know yet.

Our vet team diagnosed Ryder with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). We immediately started treatment with the FIP medication we had on hand, and we are happy to say that Ryder has been responding well - showing great improvement to the medication!
Unfortunately, the next stretch of his treatment is very expensive, and will cost $450. We are asking for your help! Will you please consider donating today to help Ryder get through his FIP treatment? He is showing such great improvement so far! He would be so grateful! We would be so grateful! Elizabeth sent us an update on her Gus, formerly Private, living his best life! He was adopted back in 2022! She tells us:

"He is content. He loves his independence. Still very affectionate but prefers not to be picked up or man handled. He sticks by me when I am home, chilling in the same room I am. He is smart and clever. He has learned how to get into every cabinet and drawer but is never destructive. He brings a calm and steadiness to my life. I am so grateful for Gus. He fits so well my life and I his. He is a wonderful companion."

We are so happy to hear how great Gus is doing! We remember when he came into Angel of Hope from the local imound, he was pretty scared those first few days. To see him happy and thriving today is absolutely wonderful! Thank you for updating us! And thank you for choosing adoption!

Michelle sent us an update on her Linus, formerly known as Rico, living his best life! Linus was adopted in October of 2021. And what a cutie he turned out to be!

She said, "He's so much fun! He loves to play fetch - especially if there is a container for him to drop his ball in when he brings it back. He puts his toys in my shoes and boots, which is a fun little surprise when I put them on in the morning. He likes to plop down on the floor and start rolling back and forth on his back. We call it "setting a trap" because you can't help but reach out to touch his SUPER FLUFFY belly, and then he swipes at you and grabs your hand. He loves to be held and kissed. He also sucks on fluffy blankets and purrs as loud as a motorcycle. We love him so much."

Aww, he sounds so fun and entertaining! He sure is a cutie! Thank you so much for the great update! And thank you for choosing to adopt!

Someone finally had his grooming appointment this week!😍Boo Boo has eyes!😂And no more Grinch feet! Boo Boo finally had his grooming appointment, and he looks so handsome! We can finally see his super cute face!

He is still waiting on that neuter appt, but we just wanted to share a quick pic on how absolutely adorable he looks after his new makeover!🥰

Sheryl sent us an update on her – and it’s pretty great!
From Sheryl:

“I adopted the best kitten ever from Angel of Hope during Covid in July of 2020. I went to see a cute little girl, but a sweet little boy said, "Pick Me!" He is very sweet and lovable and is now four years old. Someone originally named Wilber… but now his name is Thunderbird… AKA Birdy. He is very sweet and lovable and gives me snuggle time most mornings. He will watch TV in my lap if I have his favorite blanket on. He has the best internal clock and knows when it’s meal time! I have had many cats over the years, and he is my favorite one by far. He is my only pet now and the biggest joy in my life.”

Vickie sent us a quick update on her Hope, who she adopted back in 2015! She tells us, "Hope was our first cat ever. She is sweet and fun. The pics I’m sending are her and Elf on the Shelf - Holiday Edition 2024."

Christine sent us an update on her , Mocha, formerly known as Anchovy, who was just adopted on December 27, 2024. Look at how great this sweet girl is doing in her new forever home!🥰

"Mocha is such a wonderful, sweet addition to me and my daughter’s life. We lost our last kitty a year and a half ago and were waiting to find another cat to bring into our lives. When we saw her at PetSmart, my daughter said she, 'felt in it her bones,' that Mocha was the cat for us. She is so quirky, funny, loving and she purrs every time she comes near us. We love her so much!"

*Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with the latest weather forecasts.
*Indoor Safety: Ensure your pets are indoors. Extreme cold is dangerous for animals.
*Prepare a Cozy Space: Set up a warm, comfortable area for your pets away from drafts.
*Check Their Comfort: Regularly check on your pets to ensure they are warm and not showing signs of distress.
*Limit Outdoor Time: Shorten walks and outdoor time. Frostbite can occur quickly in these temperatures.
*Emergency Kit: Have an emergency kit ready with essential supplies for you and your pets.

, Kim, just sent us this adorable update and super cute pics of her , Tucker! She tells us:

"Today is our 1 year gotcha day with Tucker. He likes to look out his windows and talk to the other animals outside. Especially, his few favorite pet parents who talk back to him. Tucker is just a love and to "help" mom re-arrange her shelf when no one gets up at his command. He follows his dad around and tells him the woos of his life. Tucker does not like when a door is shut and will express his displeasure until otherwise. He loves tub time and by that, I mean play and run in the tub. Here are a few pictures of our boy. Tucker Jay💙🐾

"NYE was our two year anniversary of adopting Rocky, formerly Brodie, from an adoption event that you held at a PetsMart! I wanted to share that Rocky has been such a great addition to our family. Staring at birds out the window and naps with us on the couch seem to be some of his favorite hobbies. Thanks so much for connecting us with Rocky and helping out so many other animals."

🐾 Woof woof, friends! It’s me, Boo Boo! 🐶 I wanted to take a moment to share how I’m doing here at Angel of Hope. After my surgery last week, I’m feeling so much better and ready to take on the world! The staff has been amazing, showering me with love and attention while I recover. I couldn't have asked for a better team to help me feel comfortable and safe. ❤️ Now that I’m back on my paws, I’ve been having an absolute blast running around in the leaves! 🍂 It’s so much fun to feel the crunch under my tiny paws and chase after the swirling colors. Even though I’m super small, I’m a little speedster, darting through the grass and exploring every nook and cranny of the yard. It’s my own puppy paradise! The staff here have been wonderful playmates, throwing toys for me to chase and giving me plenty of snuggles between my adventures. I’m learning so much about being a happy, healthy pup, and I can’t wait to find my forever home one day! I hope you all are having a beautiful fall Friday! Take some time to enjoy the crisp air and colorful leaves—I know I will! Sending lots of tail wags, puppy kisses, and autumn cheer, And please enjoy this video of me showing off!💕 Boo Boo 🐾
