After many months of advocacy and hard work, I am so excited to share that I’ve secured $500,000 in state funds for construction for the new Ansonia Animal Shelter.

As many of you know, this current facility is always full and terribly outdated. It does not have basic amenities truly needed to best serve our animals and the public, and this project has been repeatedly delayed locally. I am proud to get this done, and to bring in state dollars to ease the cost for all of you while getting this moving!

Today the governor placed the Ansonia Animal Shelter on the bond agenda. The final approval will occur in one week, on October 22nd.

I want to thank House Bonding Subcommittee Chair Rep. Ron Napoli for being a fantastic partner and advocate in this effort. I also want to thank Governor Lamont for taking action on my request, and the Bond Commission. And last but not least, I want to thank the animal shelter volunteers who assisted with information and data while I wrote the bond application. This is a labor of love by many and a well deserved cause.

This is so needed, and I’m proud to get it done.

Male, 7 years old. His name is Spirit. we must find a home for him by October 12. Owner moving and cannot take him with her. He is OK with adults, but does not care for children very much. He’s always been an indoor cat although the few times he has wandered out, he has always come back. Super cuddly at meal times, however, prefers to just lay at the end of the bed or on something soft and to be left alone. Plays with kitty toys and loves to chase things.
