Grey had to become accustomed to new life changes when he moved to California from another state. He started to exhibit signs of urinary issues for a couple of days by posturing to urinate outside of the box and in other inappropriate areas like the bed and rugs.
Though he was eating normally, Dr. Parker knew that something was wrong. Soon after exhibiting these signs one morning, Grey had a loud meow when Dr. Parker went to pick him up and she knew that she needed to get him care quickly. After arriving at the hospital, Dr. Parker evaluated Grey further and realized that he could not urinate well on his own, which can turn into a serious medical emergency. They acted quickly by anesthetizing Grey and placing a urinary catheter.
He was then treated for a condition called FIC or Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. Though the exact cause is not fully understood, the urethra and the bladder get inflamed which makes it difficult and painful for cats to urinate. After a couple of days of treatment including laser therapy, as seen in the image, the inflammation subsided and Grey was back to his normal handsome self.
