Clay likes to help us out at the clinic all the time. It's normally not to helpful but sometimes it's cute. 😍🐈 #ccg #clay #kitten #mischief #diy #antigo #antigovet

Cat Echo
This video clip is an echocardiogram of a cat that we did today while the kitty was sedated for a procedure. She had a heart murmur so this was done to investigate why. The top of the heart (heart base) is pointing to the right, and the bottom (apex) of the heart is pointing left (lay down on your right side and your heart would be in the same position more or less). In clockwise fashion starting from the top left, we see the right ventricle, right atrium, left atrium, and left ventricle. You can also see the mitral valve between the left atrium and left ventricle. In this cat, the outer wall of the left ventricle, and wall between the left and right ventricle (intraventricular septum) are thickened consistent with a heart disease called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. This kitty should get twice yearly checkups and once yearly x-rays and echo to assess progression. This condition can evolve into congestive heart failure over time; if caught in early stages this can be managed with medications.
Meet my friend Mrs. Ferret!!!
