We have had Ginger a senior Chihuahua girl boarding with us this week. At our first Meet & Greet her owner described her as: not very social n grumpy. She began growling n snapping at my senior lab girl, Saiga, when she stretched out her neck in Ginger's direction. My girl just turned around as if to say - Oh, okay you don't want to be bothered. I got it! And she walked away. The owner was surprised my girl didn't react to her a all. I said - She's awesome at helping me train dogs, can you tell?!
Day 2 Ginger is walking beside Saiga n my younger girl, going outside to potty all together, no longer growling or snapping when they walk by, etc... She volunteered this change in her attitude towards other dogs with my cooperative training techniques. She's a changed girl n a sweetheart of a velcro girl!! 🤣❤️

Sadly, we just learned about losing one of our regular senior boarding pets, Mac!! 😥
He was such an awesome little West Highland White Terrier, commonly known as a Westie. Picture is of Mac n Saga, my senior lab girl who watched over him all the time. She would check to make sure he was okay because his eyesight n hearing were impaired.
He will be greatly missed for a long time. My thoughts n prayers are with his owners, Mary n Rick. You're the best pet parents he could have ever had!! Thank you for sharing him with us!! We love n miss him too! ❤️

My husband and I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 bill.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25c.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar back.'
She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the 25c, and said 'We're sorry but we don’t do that kind of thing.'
The cashier then proceeded to give me back 75 cents in change.
Do not confuse the people at MacD's.
We had to have the garage door repaired.
The repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'NOOO, it's not. Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used that repairman since...
I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbor call the local city council office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road.
The reason: 'Too many deers are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'
IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE.
My daughter went to a Mexican fast food and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked,
'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'
To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?'
He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'
The pedestrian light on the corner beeps when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an 'intellectually challenged' co-worker of mine.
She asked if I knew what the beeper was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.
Appalled, she responded, 'what on earth are blind people doing driving?!'
She is a government employee.....
When my wife and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a
service, we were told the keys had been locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door.
As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.
‘Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!'
His reply, 'I know. I already did that side.'
STAY ALERT!
They walk among us, they breed, and they vote…....

Pet Fall In Swim Lesson Video Example

This video is one example of many ways to go about teaching pets how to swim, not panic in the water, and getting comfortable with what was once the scariest moments of the unknown in their life to them. Bringing them to the point of no return feeling confident in the water is a monumental task and life changing for your pet! As if your pet is saying out loud - I can Swim to safety! Look at me!! That's a grand moment for you and your pet indeed!!
Depending on each dog, the owners expectations, etc... Swim lessons that I do for my clients are over a period of weeks not minutes as seen in the video. Some dogs can learn that quickly but most don't. I take each dog individually and assess how best to meet their specific needs. I let them and their behaviors tell me how fast or slow to go for them. I prefer to challenge them and not force them so much. I like getting them to volunteer cooperation rather than fight a swim lesson whenever possible. I do not just apply the same swimming technique across the board for all dogs.

This starts my 22nd year of teaching middle school. Yesterday was quite possibly one of the most impactful days I have ever had.

I tried a new activity called “The Baggage Activity”. I asked the kids what it meant to have baggage and they mostly said it was hurtful stuff you carry around on your shoulders.

I asked them to write down on a piece of paper what was bothering them, what was heavy on their heart, what was hurting them, etc. No names were to be on a paper. They wadded the paper up, and threw it across the room.

They picked up a piece of paper and took turns reading out loud what their classmate wrote. After a student read a paper, I asked who wrote that, and if they cared to share.

I’m here to tell you, I have never been so moved to tears as what these kids opened up and about and shared with the class.

Things like su***de, parents in prison, drugs in their family, being left by their parents, death, cancer, losing pets (one said their gerbil died cause it was fat, we giggled😁) and on and on.
The kids who read the papers would cry because what they were reading was tough. The person who shared (if they chose to tell us it was them) would cry sometimes too. It was an emotionally draining day, but I firmly believe my kids will judge a little less, love a little more, and forgive a little faster.

This bag hangs by my door to remind them that we all have baggage. We will leave it at the door. As they left I told them, they are not alone, they are loved, and we have each other’s back.
I am honored to be their teacher.

DOG RULE:
NO SWIMMING ALONE WITHOUT A PERSON IN OR BY THE POOL WITH YOU!

It's nice to have your dogs trained that if no person is in or by the pool they can only go on or stay by the stairs. Cool their feet or take a dip by the stairs to get cooled off. No swimming alone in the pool without supervision!
I'm always outside with them but it's nice to have a fall back plan in place for their safety!

I worked for an Equine Veterinarian as his Vet Tech for years in IL and I'm retired now. I also bred and trained Black Labrador Retrievers for years.

Pets must be dog friendly because I have 2 labradors of my own. My older girl helps me Train Service Dogs. My younger girl loves playing with pets! From a 5 lb Chihuahua to a 100 lb Saint Bernard!

We routinely have 'High Energy' dog playtime groups that meet every month. Owners have reported that their pet either sleeps on their car ride home when their owner picks them up from our playtimes, Daycare, or Boarding! And sometimes they're mellow for a couple days after being with us too!

One room is devoted to your pet/s if they prefer to be alone, nap more often undisturbed especially if they're a senior, or when it's feeding time.

If your pet has 'high anxiety' we can accommodate them, as well. I have assisted some owners with their pets to be able to get off their medications totally to the surprise of their owners.

If your pet recently has been spayed or neutered and you have to work but they need to be watched to not mess with their stitches we can watch them. We give medications and shots, etc… We can give them that extra special loving care while you're away! Some of our spoiled baby's eat it up!!

$60/Day &
$20/Each additional pet.

DAYCARE PER HOUR & $20/Hour for the 2 hours to a maximum rate of $50/for an 8 Hour Day and $20/each additional pet.

If you're needing to Board your pet for the first time I like to encourage owners to have a 1 Hour Daycare once or twice a week before leaving them with us for your 1 - 2+ weeks vacation or business trip. This way it's not as stressful for your pet because they don't know us yet and they get to enjoy being with us quicker and slowly get into their routines away from home, playtimes, potty times, etc… Their anxiety of just being dropped off and left for a week/s can take a toll on their emotions and their bodies just like us humans. Such as not eating for days because they miss you so much! So I like to get to know them and for them to get to know us and have fun times without being so worried about when you're coming back to get them?!! This helps them acclimate better and quicker and makes it a more positive experience for them and us too!
