Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has announced that a Stay at Home Order will go into effect at 5 p.m. Monday. As you leave your house to exercise your dog, remember to follow proper social distancing rules and keep three beagle lengths (around 6 feet) between yourself and others at all times. Stay safe beagle community!

Thank you Sarah Shelley for the helpful graphic!

Friends of Wake County Animal Center

We are in need of dog walking volunteers at the Wake County Animal Center!!!

Right now we have over 40 dogs who need to be walked twice a day to keep them happy and healthy. Sometimes that number climbs to over 70 dogs a day needing two walks each. Many days dogs can't get out twice to potty because we simply don't have enough volunteers.

I'm going to lay it out there, walking at the shelter isn't like walking your own dog. Walking at the shelter is tough, most of the dogs eligible for walking are medium to large dogs, many are bully breeds, they are energetic, some jump on you, some pull, some have never been on a leash. It's tough but it's totally worth it to help the dogs get their 15 minutes of freedom each day. It's incredible to see them so happy to get out of their kennel, to be with you, to watch the cars, the birds, the leaves; just to be free from the kennel for a little bit. You get to be part of teaching them to sit, to walk and preparing them for a new home.

The time slots we need walkers are as follows
M-F 8:30am- 11am and 4pm -6pm
Weekends 9:00am- 11am and 4pm-6pm

If you have been thinking of volunteering NOW is the time. To volunteer all you have to do is fill out the volunteer application by clicking the link below: http://www.wakegov.com/pets/volunteer/Pages/default.aspx

After you've completed your volunteer application, please email [email protected], to schedule your required Volunteer Orientation. You must go through orientation in order to volunteer, EVEN if you've volunteered elsewhere you still have to do orientation.

All volunteers must be 18 years of age, this is for liability reasons as animals are not temperament tested. Children 16-17 can volunteer with a parent. Please no comments on this policy, we can't change it it is a county policy because we do not temperament test the animals before they are placed on the floor.

If you have any questions about volunteering please let us know. Our entire team is volunteer ran and all of us currently volunteer each week at the shelter.

Peak City Puppy

Scariest thing you'll see all day/night. The Wake County Animal Shelter is FULL. And by law, they can't turn away surrenders, so.......there's only so much space.

PLEASE consider sharing and/or opening your home. I'm contacting the shelter to see if I can take in a family-friendly foster even for awhile until things slow down there.

Be the We.

Thank you, Lesley
