It is with a heavy heart, and more than a few tears, that I announce the closure of It's All About Horses! Tack Shop. After 15 years of serving the triangle area horse folks, I have decided that this industry and times have changed too much for us to continue. Locally, many of the beautiful horse farms, horse businesses, and horse people who have supported our business have now sold to developers and have moved away. Most of us have seen the crazy changes here in Apex! It's gone from a beautiful town full of horse farms and character to so many subdivisions that it is running the few horse people that are left out of town.
The retail industry as a whole seems to be moving towards the convenience of online purchasing. Even I sell many of my inventory items online. Some days I sell more online than I do in this retail location. At a certain point, it makes no sense to keep paying rent on the building, and all of the other costs associated with keeping this store running when I could sell online from home and have time to teach more riding lessons!
Personally, what has pushed me to go ahead and make this decision a little quicker is that I am about to have a major surgery and will not be able to lift anything for a long period of time. This is impossible to do since I really need to be able to lift bags of feed, after all, this is also a feed store!
I want to thank all of my loyal customers for the years of support, fun and many, many horse stories! The best part of owning this store has been the wonderful horse people that I have met that are outside of my discipline. Many of these people I now consider good friends! Another favorite thing was fitting the children with their first helmets, riding tights, and paddock boots! And speaking with the kids (and adults) who were just getting into the horse world, as well as the seasoned horse people. The excitement that I see when people talk about their beloved horses (and cats and dogs, too!) has brought so much joy into my life. I have met so many kindred spirits! I love the fact that the love of horses is so strong in people young and old. I will never stop promoting the horse industry, especially here in NC.
****If you have a gift certificate (or know someone who does) – please come and redeem them before we close. Below is a list of our remaining days and times that the store will be open. I have reached out to many of my current consigners and let them know to come and pick up their items. If you are a current consigner and have NOT heard from us, we will try to finish contacting folks in the next couple of days. Or feel free to contact us here at the store. More often than not, the store v.m. is full and will not take messages (thanks to all of the robocalls that fill it up with recordings on a daily basis). Try to call during business hours when there is a human to answer your call. You can also reply to this email address and it will come directly to Tracey.
Please consider purchasing your feed and tack from LOCALLY OWNED businesses. Remember, "Buy Local or Bye Bye Local"! We recommend Pittsboro Feed (919-542-2454) for Horse Feed, Chicken Feed, Hay and Pet Food. Christine and Dave Miller (and their children) own and run this fabulous business. Rusty Isley @ isley Farm Supply (336-228-1007) is also a great feed and hay source (fabulous hay!). Rusty and his crew will even deliver and stack your hay in your barn! They are all super folks and have always been wonderful for us to work with. M&M Tack is a wonderful source for English Tack, show clothes, and other horse products. Double LL Tack in Coats is a great store for just about everything, especially Western tack & clothes. The Country Connection in Clayton/Garner area is the best place for cowboy boots for riding or for fashion! ALL of these business are locally owned. You can always expect superior customer service with these businesses!
