Great news! We are deemed "essential" and are ready to serve you and your pets! We are listing all of the procedures we are using to keep you and our employees safe during this pandemic. Please note that our hours are significantly different. We realize this is long but we believe it is important to operate with extreme transparency during this tricky time.

Essential Business COVID 19 procedures

Overview

• Office hours starting April 20th will be 9 am – 11 am and by pre-arranged appointment
• Clients cannot enter our building
• We must stay 6 feet away from clients
• We will wash our hands immediately before touching anything you will touch
• We will limit contact between co-workers
• Employees will be checked before each shift, and promise to stay home if they have any hint of illness
• No bedding, toys, leashes, harnesses, or collars are allowed at this time. We cannot take in items that cannot be easily sanitized.
• All paperwork needs to be completed remotely, preferably before coming to the kennel
• Payments must be made over the phone before or during pick up

Major changes in Green Level Policies during Covid-19

Hours: We will be open limited hours to minimize contact between employees and to be able to care for the dogs while we are closed. Office hours starting April 20th will be 9 am – 11 am or you can make pre-arranged appointments during our “traditional” hours at least 24 hours in advance. Hours will change as the situation evolves.

Reminder about Upcoming Rate Change: It is always hard for our family to increase the price of the services we provide. Our prices last changed a little more than 4 years ago in January of 2016. It is our hope that despite increasing some of our rates, you will still find us a good value for the care your pet receives. We also recognize that a price increase in the middle of the COVID 19 outbreak may seem ill-timed, but we have made the difficult decision to move ahead with our planned increases in an effort to keep our quality staff and doors open.

Pets that check-in on or after May 1st, 2020 will be subject to the below rates.

Boarding
Dogs up to 30 pounds- $34 (previously $31)
Dogs over 30 pounds - $36 (previously $33)
Cats - $20 (previously $18)

Pet Drop-Off and Pick-ups: Customers are not allowed inside the premises per government guidelines, so please stay in your vehicle when you arrive. If no one comes outside quickly, feel free to honk to get our attention.

Drop-off: We cannot take anything from you directly, so you will need to follow the posted signs showing you where to put your dog. Please keep your dog on leash until they are in the safe enclosure. We don’t want to risk any escapees during this alternative drop off. Place food and meds as needed on the table next to the enclosure.

Pick-up: Call the kennel at 919-362-7877 and pay over the phone. We will then put your pup into the same place you dropped your dog off and leave any remaining food and meds on the table. We will come out and give you the all clear to go and collect your dog. Please remember to close the gate behind you before opening the enclosure door to get your dog so we don’t have any escapees.

Belongings: No belongings are allowed at this time. The International Boarding and Pet Services Association recommends that facilities stop taking bedding and toys for the time being to protect employees from possible disease transfer on the front end and the clients on the back end. All pets will still have a cot.

In the same vein, IBPSA recommends that we don’t touch leashes and collars currently either. You will need to remove your dog’s collar/harness and leash upon drop-off for us. Please remember to bring them back when you pick up!

We deem dog’s food and medicine as essential and therefore WILL still be accepting those. Please bring it in containers or bags that can be disinfected easily. No PAPER bags of dog food will be accepted.

Paperwork: Your pet's boarding contract can be submitted here: https://forms.gle/JaeLFHPT9eb3kfRv9 and will also be emailed to you 2 days before your reservation if we have not received it. If you are unable to complete the form, we can do it verbally once you arrive at the kennel. This contract is how you will make your drop off appointment if the 9-11 am window does not work for you.

Pet Care:
Pets under our care at this time will receive basically the same care they always have. Despite our unusual office hours, the dogs will still have 4 times outside at the normal times. They will also be on the same feeding and treat schedule. The major difference your pet will notice is that we expect to be much emptier than usual. This may mean that they will not experience the same level of play with other dogs that they have become accustomed to at GLK. Tell them not to worry too much though, they will still get lots of attention and cuddles from us, especially since we have missed them so much since we have been closed!

Human safety:
All employees working a shift must take their temperature before each shift begins. Temp must be below 100 degrees in order to work.

Employees suffering from any respiratory issues including sore throat, coughing or shortness of breath should disclose that immediately and stay at home to keep everyone safe.

Employees are asked to abide by government guidelines and take precautions both during work hours and off site. Masks are to be worn whenever co-workers and/or clients come within 6 feet of another. All efforts should be made to stay at least 6 ft away whenever possible.

Employees are to wash their hands immediately after touching any items brought into kennel and BEFORE bringing any items up to give back to a client.

Green Level Kennel will be operating as 3 distinct “teams” for the time being. No overlap
of those teams will be allowed. If any employee or client turns out to have been exposed or revealed through contact tracing, the other teams will still be available to tend to the animals under our care and needs of our clients.

Employees will disinfect common surfaces before leaving shifts and “team” turnovers. To be safe, employees will also disinfect common surfaces upon arrival.

Sad day today as the Wake County Stay at Home order closes our business at 5pm. We haven’t gone without a dog to care for a single night since we took over the kennel in 2003 and it will be surreal.

We are happy however to do our part in helping this crisis come to the fastest end possible.

As very grateful that we will be able to keep our wonderful staff “whole” so when they allow us back open we can hit the ground running!

Despite what tradition says, Logan, Ollie and Paisley are extremely happy we don’t have a White Christmas. Everyone is so happy to have a glorious sunny Christmas Eve to romp with their friends.

After 7 years of service, the kennel is saying goodbye to Ashley this weekend. Green Level Kennel wishes her all the best as she puts her newly acquired Masters of Social Work degree to good use. The dogs will miss you!
