Bowie is a 6 year old 16.3 hh oldenburg cross looking for his new owner to show him the ropes. Solid flat work with a steady canter and started over fences. Very willing to work but needs a bit of guidance as he finishes up on the flat and over fences. Would be an excellent match for a confident amateur or junior rider looking for a project type. Despite the scorching weather this past week, this crew had a great time at Annual! Paisley & Roxie finished 5th in the wee derby out of 31 (in Paisley's first ever derby!). Cass & George had fun out on the field for the national derby as well and Hollis made her debut showing Einstein in the childrens this weekend with some excellent rounds! 💙
Margaret & the Double M family are so proud of our graduating seniors! We can't believe it's already that time! We will miss every one of you and are honored to have been given the opportunity to watch you all grow not just as riders but as young amazing women. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our seniors and to those who help put together this lovely evening 👏🎉 but the biggest congratulations goes to Grace Ellen, Aleta, Caroline, Lily & Julia💙 We will miss you!!

The mini barn manager misses doing night check with Mom and Dad, so before her bed time she conducts her own “night check.” She checks on water and hay, and every horse gets a goodnight kiss blown their way.

Konan Z is a 16.2, 14 year old Zangersheide gelding proven as a true three ring horse. A point and shoot ride with many visits to medal finals, Konan is perfect for a junior wanting to move up the levels or an adult who is wanting to be competitive. Always jumping clear with an adjustable stride down the lines, he knows all the tricks while being forgiving at the same time. Nothing phases this guy and he is SAFE with zero spook.

Horses and sun rises are the perfect combination.
The decisions we make in the care of our horses, none is more momentous than the one to let them go. There are no words to capture the lasting effects that they have on our heart. We said a very tough good bye to our Mr. Magnificent, our Moose. Larger than life with a puppy dog personality. He touched numerous lives and we can’t be more thankful for the people who took part in caring for him. We are so lucky to have been a part of his life and we will remember him forever.
Double M Farm is looking for a part-time groom who takes pride in providing quality care that ensures our horses are successful in the Show Ring. We are a Hunter/Jumper facility that provides professional instruction and training to people who own or lease their own horse. You will be working directly with our Barn Manager and Assistant Trainer in caring for 25 horses. Duties would include but are not limited to:
- Daily barn chores (mucking stalls, cleaning water buckets, adding shavings,etc)
- Setting feed and hay for dinner and breakfast
- Holding for vet and farrier
- Preparing horses for transport to horse shows
- Operate the tractor to drag and water the ring
- Possible travel to horse shows (travel accommodations, food stipend, mileage reimbursement included)
- Possible ride opportunities to the right candidate
Our ideal candidate would have general horse knowledge, ability to hold for vet and farrier and take notes for clients and the head trainer, be able to follow directions, and communicate well. Pay starts at $15 dollars an hour and goes up based on knowledge and experience. We are looking to fill our 0730-1200, Tuesday-Saturday shifts, number of hours/days are negotiable. We had an awesome time this past week in Aiken! Lots of firsts this show; Aleta & Einstein first time in the juniors, Delaney & Milo first time in the 3' childrens, Lily & George's first national derby, Kara & Waffle's first time in the .90s, Hollis & Cooper's first time in the large pony division, and Katie Mac & Sport's first show with us! Super proud of all our riders earning some great placings in a bunch of competitive classes💙
We had so much fun at Sedgefield at the Park’s Haunted Horse Show! Our riders put in a lot of work preparing for this show, and we couldn’t be more proud of the results that they earned!!
We are excited to welcome Waffle to Double M Farm! Waffle will be teaching Kara Dietrich the ins and outs of the jumper ring this year. Thank you to Emma and Nick at Across Town Farm for helping with this match, we will give him as much love as ya’ll do! And a huge thank you to the Ledin family for trusting us with such a special horse!
When the mini Barn manager comes into your stall it means you are not moving fast enough and she is ready for dinner.
Barn manager tip #3: when checking pastures it is important to make sure troughs are topped off. (Our staff does an excellent job of making sure troughs are clean and filled. I just wasn’t going to fight a toddler on filling her horse’s water.)
A little late to post but we had a great time in Lexington Virginia at the Lexington National Horse Show! Maria & Clever had their second show together and are continuing to learn each other in the show ring, Aleta & Einstein and Lily & George put in some great rounds (both pairs earned ribbons in a competitive division out of 30), Delaney and Milo made their first show debut in the pre-childrens putting in some excellent rounds and to top it all off Margaret and Clever had the privilege of working with Olympic champion Jo Fargis who provided both Sara and Margaret with some great advice. What an amazing opportunity! Congrats to all our riders on another successful show 💙
Big congratulations to Hollis & Roxie who took the long journey to pony finals this past week!! We are so proud of this pair and the hard work they've put in to making it to both of their first pony finals! They finished 19th over fences and 37th overall in the mediun green pony division out of some 70 ponies! Although we couldn't be there, we were cheering them on from Lexington Virginia! Thanks to for all your help with these two!

Another great show in the books! Lots of learning in and out of the show ring☺️ Kara & Mickey made their debut in the show ring and earned some respectable ribbons in a big division. Caroline & Oliver and Lily & George put in some excellent trips as well earning ribbons in a large childrens division. Lily & George continued to impress into Sunday by earning 1st in the childrens classic! Congratulations to all our riders that attended! Looking forward to our next show in Lexington Virginia
