Antimicrobial resistance can affect the health of both people and animals. Here are some ways pet owners can help use antibiotics responsibly:

▪ Ask your veterinarian about preventing common infections with good hygiene, nutrition, vaccinations, and proper pet care.
▪ Use antibiotics only when needed, and follow your veterinarian’s directions.
▪ Store antibiotics safely in your home, so that children and pets do not accidentally take medicine not meant for them.
▪ Talk with your veterinarian about using antibiotics responsibly to keep people and pets healthy.

Happy HOWL-ween! Keep the spooky fun for the humans and the scary far away from your pets! Three essential tips to keep your pets safe this Halloween:

🍫 No candy for pets! Chocolate and xylitol (found in sugar-free treats) are highly toxic to pets. Keep all goodies out of reach - and watch those sneaky paws!
👻 Costume caution! Not all pets love dressing up. If they do, make sure costumes fit comfortably without restricting movement or breathing. Safety over style!
🏡 Stress-free zone! Trick-or-treaters and doorbells can overwhelm pets. Set up a cozy, quiet space where they can relax, and make sure they don’t dash out the door.

As a reminder, our partner, UrgentVet, is open late should your pet need care after-hours! Monday-Friday 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM and Saturday & Sunday 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Easily save your spot online at www.UrgentVet.com!

We're all aware of the dangers of chocolate for pets, but don't overlook the threat of xylitol.

This sweetener, commonly found in sugar-free gum and candy, can trigger rapid insulin release, potentially leading to liver failure and dangerous drops in blood sugar levels. Make sure to keep your candy bowl out of reach this year and check all your sugar free products for this ingredient.
