Our Story...

Welcome to Rowdy's Pet Resort! This has been a dream in the making for almost 7 years. I sometimes wake up and cannot believe how lucky I am to be truly living my dream everyday! I know how important your pet is to you, and I promise myself and all of us at Rowdy's will give it our everything to make sure your pet is safe and comfortable while you are away.

As a child, my mother and I would volunteer with our golden retriever, Paige, at a home for battered women and children. When Paige passed away, I started volunteering at my local animal shelter where I counseled families that were surrendering their pets. It was there I learned a lot about animal behavior and evaluation.

When I was 21, I got a job at a dog daycare and boarding facility, Dog Day Getaway in Minnesota. I worked with a team of wonderful people and I owe many of my accomplishments to the owners and dear friends, Nicole Boe & Carey Rice. I would not be here without them.

I left Dog Day Getaway to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and got a job with a general practice veterinary hospital. In 2011 I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Animal Science, pre-veterinary medicine. During my last semester at the UofM, I was very fortunate to have a internship at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. There I worked in the Primate Center with orangutans, gorillas, emperor tamrins, lemurs, spider and saki monkeys. Occasionally I would help out with the lions, tigers and snow leopards. On my last day I got a kiss from a sea lion and got to feed the polar bears! I was so blessed to have that experience, and will cherish the memories forever.
