I saw some really nice photos of Wyatt and I taken by Elle Ann Photography at the Winning Ways with Western Dressage show in Ohio. She did a wonderful job capturing each test movement that would be scored by Lynn Palm. Scores are valued at 1-10. I was pleased to see my "first ever 8" on a few of my scores. Thanks to Wyatt as he is very good at his square halts ๐Ÿ˜Š. But I am most excited about our "Centerline". We happened to be the last test of the show and our last manuver to end the show was a straight working jog with a smooth and balanced transition to a working walk ending at a quiet square halt all the way down the centerline. It was the end of the test and the end of the show. Whew! We did it well and I am forever grateful to Lauren Janesch and Jennifer A. Sharpnack for sharing their awesome boy. And thank you Jennifer Sharpnack Equestrian and team for your support and teaching me what to do. ๐Ÿ˜

You wouldnโ€™t know that these two wonderful young women live life with an intellectual disability. Today in their equine assisted learning session they showed patience, kindness and a willingness to communicate and try to understand one another. No judgements or assumptions. Just pure positive supportive interactions. Loved it and these ladies ๐Ÿฅฐ So grateful to have been in this session to see this. I needed it ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ™โœ๏ธ

Sweet Sixteen! It doesnt seem that long ago since we started Emmaus Horsemanship. I am proud to say that we have held true to our philosophy that we provide educational and therapeutic activities for people of all ages and abilities! We started as a psychology internship through Penn State and over the past several years we have proudly supported many other students in their internships or practicums in the fields of physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, special education, human services. And yes, we even supported a start up business in equine assisted psychtherapy! Through it all its really been about our love to support you with our equine partners.โค

Justin is a young man that loves to come to the Emmaus Barn each week. He is usually accompanied by his companion because he doesn't have real good safety skills and will suddenly leave if he is distracted or "in his head". We tried to work on sensory and skill building activities at home. But he was very inconsistent in wanting to participate in any of the activities. So, as a last resort, his support team agreed we should at least try to go to the stable and participate in equine-assisted learning activities. Over the past year Justin has increased his ability to attend to the tasks at hand, he verbally communicates more often calling Peacie and I by our names, and he is much more in tuned to our interactions together, me, him, and the horse. He receives Behavior Support with Horses! It is not for everyone but, it has certainly provided Justin with enjoyment and a more calm and focused demeanor. What a blessing!
