Update on Orion: 1/23
We have $177 left to raise for Day 6.

Per the Outlaw Equine Veterinarian: Orion’s abscesses in his lungs are lessening and his lung health is improving. He has diarrhea again and is being put back on IV fluids to hopefully increase his appetite, energy, and kidney functions which may be decreased due to dehydration. They will then recheck his bloodwork to make sure his organs are still functioning properly. Prognosis is still guarded but they are happy that his pneumonia is improving with breathing treatments.

Orion will be getting breathing treatments with his antibiotics going straight to his lungs through a nebulizer treatment every 4 hours to aggressively treat his severe pneumonia. In order to do this, he needs to stay at Outlaw Equine Hospital for about 7 more days. This will be roughly another $4,000 estimated. We have raised enough for day #1, but we have 6 more days to pay for. Please help us help him. If anyone can sponsor a whole day, approximately $400, that would be absolutely amazing.

One of our reasons why. The biggest reason we do as much as we can. 💔💔💔

Presidio Export Pen, Texas. Yesterday. This was their last meal before they were shipped to a gruesome death at a Mexican slaughter plant. They are all dead now. It is a stark reminder that there is still no federal legislation banning the slaughter of our horses for human consumption. Last year, 17,208 horses were shipped to Mexico for slaughter - which is 1034 horses less than in 2023. However, one horse suffering this horrific fate is one horse too many. We need to work harder than ever to end this once and for all.

Happy weekend RTR community. What a time it has been. Between the emotional hangover from the auction, the fires in California, and some personal loss close to our family, the world feels a bit heavy. In fact, I don’t think this feeling is unique to me or us - I recently heard on a podcast that people in the US have never felt lonelier, more depressed and anxious.💔

So today, I am going to focus on what I can do to make myself feel good, which is to do GOOD.

I am still raising money for . Since early December, because of your generosity we have raised almost $8,000 for them - which is AMAZING. They still have funds to raise for the 12 lives from the auction, plus Orion (a wild mustang) who continues to fight for his life after being beaten up.

This picture was taken a couple years ago of 2-day old Buffy at where I quickly learned about the ugly side of the horse industry. Buffy was rejected by her mama who was rescued by . It was then and there I decided to focus on sharing the GOOD story.

How did this former 4-H girl, Class A Arabian showgirl, rodeo attending, former resident of Nevada where more wild horses reside than any other state - not know ANYTHING about the plight of our domestic and wild horses and donkeys???😞

But as they say, when you know better, you do better. And that is what I intend to do.💫

Good morning, equine-loving village!

We currently have $7,918 to raise in total for the Lucky 12 from the January Bowie Auction.

In “honor” of my birthday, we’re doing a $19 Challenge- it’s on the 19th, and if 416 of us donated just $19 they’d be fundraised for! Can we do this?? Totally!

We still have $9,765 left to go to raise for the Lucky 12 from the January Bowie auction.
In the midst of everything, it seems a little bleak. There has to be something we can do, together. SO MANY of you have donated and contributed. I am eternally grateful as are the horses… THANK YOU! 🙏🏻

But we have to raise this for the bare minimum, purchase price and some QT. Otherwise, there’s no purchase, there’s no quarantine money, which means there’s no food. So, even though the auction is over, the fight for their LIVES is not… broken record here. But we need our last big “hoorah” for a while to be successful, and we need YOU.

Update on Orion:
He is currently at Outlaw Equine receiving care, but their findings are that he has trauma to his face causing his nostril to be compromised, along with SEVERE pneumonia. This has caused an abscess in his lung. Being that he is unhandled, he needs a lot of extra precautions to get the job done, so his estimate of care for the next 2 weeks is $4,000. We need to raise this in order to pay them for his treatment and have him released upon his discharge. We can do this! Humans have failed him SO much before, we can save his life yet again! Please help.
