Today, we had a UCS challenge up at north oak hunt club. Our newest & youngest member at Quarry Creek-Mayz brought home some hardware! She took first place with Trevor and fourth with Logan in puppy. This first place win will give her a entry in UCS puppy of the year this spring. Another fun day running dogs !!!

Today Wyne, Mayz, Bella and I guided a group of 3. They were from Illinois and came up for there annual ice fishing trip. The ice conditions didn’t allow them to go fishing, so they opted for a hunt instead. The dogs worked great and the group had a good time. Couldn’t ask for better weather in February ! 👍🏼

Friday afternoon, we had a group of 4 do a 26 bird hunt with us. Wyne, Jade, and Mayz made up the dog power. We ended up flushing 28 birds and harvesting 23. Thanks again Wolf River Game Farm! Made these dogs Christmas a lot better!

Today, the pups had a guide group of 4. We were a little under the weather, so our friend Trevor handled Bella and his dog Ace— from one of our Jade litters. They planted 16 birds- a mix of pheasants and chukar. They flushed 18 and harvested 12. The group and dogs had a great time thanks to Wolf River Game Farm!

Well.. the 15th annual South Dakota pheasant hunt is in the books! The crew had 9 dogs and 8 handlers. We covered a lot of land to get our 5 day limit-- with a few bonus ducks and geese.

Without our 4 legged army, the amount of flushes & found birds would not have been possible. Nothing better than great success on a 5 day- do it yourself hunt !

South Dakota rarely disappoints! Can't wait until next year 🍻

The crew is home from our annual South Dakota waterfowl and upland trip! We started the trip with a great cold front that went through North Dakota and South Dakota. The first 4 days, we targeted ducks and geese. We did some field hunting,water hunting, and jump shooting.

Cash got a pretty bad cut. He had to take a day off and get on antibiotics. But he had a full day of pheasant hunting on his 4th birthday -- the last day of the trip.

The ice was very hard on the dogs. They had to break a lot of ice to get to the birds. It took alot of energy out of the dogs.

One of the greenheads we shot was banded we called it in and it was banded in the same town we were staying 11.5 years ago. Pretty impressive a duck can find his way home after 11 years

The last day we went for pheasants and headed west tward Aberdeen. We had 8 nice rooster flushes and capitalized on 4 of them.

We ended the trip with 118 ducks, 9 pheasants, 1 sharpie, and 6 geese. We had 4 dogs with and a ton of great retrieves in some crazy wicked weather. It was another awesome trip with great friends and family! Wouldn't have been possible without the dogs!!! 🐾🦆

10-26-23 we made it up to wolf river game farm for an afternoon hunt with some repeat client's. We had Bella, Mayz along and I also handled their pointer. The combination worked very well. The pointer found the area where the birds were and bella pinpointed flushed and retrieved. There were 12 planted and 14 flushed ! We had a fun day with these guys 👍🏼

2 weekends in a row,we headed to Iowa for bird dog tournaments. This past weekend was NUCS Kevin funke memorial tournament.

Friday, we had doubles and amateur. Mayz ran in amateur and we had 4 doubles runs with 4 combinations of dogs. Cash and Rico had the fastest doubles run of the day, but due to birds not flushing for the shot they took second. Right behind them ( within 25 seconds) was Jersey and Cash for third. Mayz had solid runs in amateur, but not quite quick enough to get on the podium.

Saturday was the start to open (2 combined runs). Wyne had a solid run, but not fast enough put her on top. Cash had 3 birds around 4 minutes and the last bird flushed and was missed. Sucks to let your dog down when they do everything right.... Jersey ( a jade x pike pup) won the daily option pot run for the fastest run of the day.

Sunday, our second day of open, Wyne had a good 5 min run and Cash had the fastest run in the tournament with a 1:58 with 3 birds. So Cash took home Sunday's option pot.

We had a great time with good friends and also met some new ones. One weekend to prep for a week in South Dakota bird hunting!!!

The dogs had a fun, long, 3 day weekend at the annual UCS Oktoberfest tournament. The competition was tough and scenting was challenging for even the most experienced dogs.

Mayz was in puppy division with roughly 30 entries. Her and Sara made it to finals and ended in 6th place. We are very happy with her progress with it only being her 3rd tournament.

Cash and Wyne were in open division in separate brackets of 21 dogs they took 3 dogs from each bracket to make a final of 6. Cash ended at 8th in his bracket and Wyne was 4th in hers, so she didn’t squeeze in.

Jersey (a puppy out of our previous Pike & Jade litter) took 2nd place in hunter division with Stefanie !

Overall, the dogs worked well and everyone had a great time. Thanks to Becky & Mike Kermes for all they do!Hopefully, the dogs are nice and warmed up for the NUCS Brian Funke Memorial Tournament this coming weekend in Iowa!!! After that, a week off and then a week vacation for the dogs retrieving ducks and geese in South Dakota!
