At Maine Backwoods Kennel we having been raising well socialized, family quality dogs since 2015 .. All of our Dogs are very healthy and won’t disappoint.. As we don't own our own stud dog, we do try to find different males outside of our home for each litter or multiple. The Studs are chosen carefully for the meantime. We recently have purchased our own future AKC Golden Retriever stud dog that we will start using in 2021. Our choice to start breeding Wirehaired Pointing Griffons was to bring an unfamiliar but Popular breed to Maine, not many are here.. All our Griffs are fully registered dogs and come from very healthy lines... Special tests will be done before we start breeding, such as (hips and elbow X-rays as well as OFAs, DNA, and Heart).. IF all goes as planned we are hoping to have our first litter in 2021.. We are in the process of getting our Griffons trained For Search and Recovery for Deer tracking/blood tracking
Curious to what a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon? Ill tell you
Griffs are a medium sized, all purpose gundogs standing no higher than 24 inches at the shoulder. They’re known for an extremely harsh and bristly coat that gives them a natural, unkempt appearance. The preferred color is steel gray with brown markings. A lavish mustache and eyebrows frame large, rounded eyes that gleam with a keen intelligence. Griffs are the very picture of an honest, hardworking sporting dog, whose handsome looks are the result of a noble and unaffected ruggedness rather than fussy grooming... They are a minimally shedding dog . Their coat has a harsh outer coat with a soft insulating undercoat. considered to be hypoallergenic.. They are also a very social breed and require a lot of attention, consistent training, time and patience. They are especially active as puppies, and are very intelligent, social and physically powerful as adults. Their also require considerable mental and physical challenges on a daily basis, or they can become bored, unhappy and/or destructive. The ideal Griffon household is one in which the people are active and include the dog in their daily routines. A Griffon whose mental, emotional, and physical needs are met on a daily basis can be an exceptionally pleasant and easy-to-live-with companion. (information about breed was Taken from the American Kennel Club).
