Q: What is the difference between a brown egg and a white egg? And no we don’t bleach our eggs😜

A: Short answer, the chickens earlobes dictate the color of the egg👂🏾🐓👂🏻!

More specifically our farm has brown chickens that lay brown eggs and white chickens that lay white eggs. We are year round chicken farmers and egg producers so in order to meet the needs or our customers, we purchase brown & white chicks to produce a specific color egg.

Have you ever seen a chicken dust bathe before? It was a little cold this morning so our girls huddled together for warmth and began dust bathing! Chickens dust bathe for a number of reasons! 🐓🐓 1. To control the oils on their bodies. The dust helps to absorb excess oils on the feathers. 2. To get rid of mites and lice. Chickens use dust bathing to treat their own symptoms of irritation from external parasites. Dust can suffocate, dry up and kill unwanted mites. 3. PURE ENJOYMENT!! Our Story

For almost 100 years and four generations, Glaum Egg Ranch has been committed to humane, sustainable and environmentally sound family farming practices. The number one goal of our ranch is to provide above-standard conditions to protect the health and welfare of our chickens. Our 28 acre ranch is nestled in the foothills of Santa Cruz County surrounded by healthy organic fields and cooled by the natural air-conditioning from ocean breezes off Monterey Bay. We are a 100% CAGE FREE family farm. Our chickens, at anytime, have the luxury of roaming free, dust bathing, perching, nesting, eating and drinking. Our chickens drink fresh water daily from our own well and are fed vegetarian and natural organic diets without animal proteins, hormones or antibiotics. We provide the freshest eggs available to Northern California grocery stores, restaurants and bakeries -- typically delivered within 24 to 48 hours after laying.
